At the latest SEE-ERA monthly consortium meeting, partners had the privilege of welcoming Gary Jennings from Oxford Brookes University for a highly engaging guest session on establishing and managing Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs).
Gary Jennings highlighted key strategies for successful TTO implementation, including:
🔸shifting the focus from pure income generation to impact creation
🔸developing tailored institutional strategies and documentation
🔸securing leadership support and researcher engagement
🔸ensuring dedicated staffing structures rather than part-time academic management
Discussions also addressed major challenges institutions may face, such as:
🔸securing sustainable funding
🔸encouraging researcher participation
🔸overcoming resistance
🔸effectively positioning TTOs as supportive institutional mechanisms
☑️ A key takeaway: successful innovation ecosystems require dedicated institutional structures, strategic planning and a long-term vision for sustainable change.
The session also opened valuable discussions on future collaboration, study visits and how TTO models can support inclusive innovation across SEE-ERA partner institutions.
🤝 Thank you, Gary Jennings, for sharing your expertise and inspiring new perspectives for innovation in research and higher education.

The SEE-ERA project was represented at the INSPIRE Inspirequality Second Conference, “Inclusive Gender Equality in R&I from an Intersectional Perspective: Lessons from INSPIRE for the evidence base, practice & policy”, held on 16–17 April 2026 in Brussels.
👥 Bringing together researchers, practitioners and policy actors from across Europe, the conference created a dynamic space for exchange and dialogue on advancing gender equality and intersectionality in research and innovation, sustaining change and addressing future challenges.
🟪 SEE-ERA’s Project Coordinator, Kyriaki Karydou, attended the conference, engaging with a community committed to advancing structural change across research, practice and policy. As part of the conference, SEE-ERA was also featured through a digital poster, showcasing the project’s work on Gender Equality Plans and inclusive innovation in South-East Europe.
💬 Reflecting on the experience, Kyriaki Karydou noted:
“𝐼𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑠𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑎 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑖𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑐ℎ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑣𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛.

✔ Collaboration is more essential than ever, especially at a time when equality work is under pressure
✔ Building solidarity across communities is fundamental
✔ Being reflexive about our own privileges and blind spots is necessary
✔ Diverse voices must be represented and heard in the change process
The participation of SEE-ERA further underlines the importance of collective action and cross-project collaboration in advancing inclusive and sustainable change in research and innovation across Europe.
