If you really knew me, you would know that my love for teaching comes from when I used to attend my grandmother’s primary school as a toddler. Those are actually some of my favorite memories, where I would hang out with her, watch her teach. Growing older, I would lead groups of students, and always gave them a collaborative challenge to keep them busy - building a sculpture, a puzzle, creating a story etc. Their eyes used to sparkle solving the problem together. I thought, “wow, what a wonderful way to learn!” That’s where my interest in facilitation began. Over time, I brought my own flavor to it through tinkering and robotics. Now, I invite the creativity and uniqueness of students by getting them to make something with their hands, break it, remake it even, and then learn from the process. It’s a lot about sharp focus, having the interest to solve problems, learning from failure, and finding their way. It’s a lot of me in the method! Να τι αποκόμισαν 400 μαθητές Γ' λυκείου και 60 καθηγητές όταν επισκέφτηκαν το Ίδρυμα Ιατροβιολογικών Ερευνών της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών στις 27 και 28 Φεβρουαρίου 2018. Συμμετείχαν στις εκδηλώσεις επιστημονικής ενημέρωσης Biosciences, με επιστημονική υπεύθυνη την Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Ιατρικής Δέσποινα Σανούδου. Παιδαγωγική επιμέλεια, βιωματικές δράσεις και ομιλίες για επαγγελματικό προσανατολισμό από τον Θεμιστοκλή Γκιών, Flow Athens.

420 μαθητές Γ' Λυκείου άντλησαν έμπνευση και ενδυνάμωση στις εκδηλώσεις επιστημονικής ενημέρωσης στο Ίδρυμα Ιατροβιολογικών Ερευνών της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών, 28 & 29 Νοεμβρίου. Συμμετείχαν σχολεία από όλες τις περιοχές της Αθήνας, από τη Λαμία, τη Χαλκίδα και το Ξυλόκαστρο. Παιδαγωγική επιμέλεια: Themis Gkion - Flow Athens

420 high-school students drew inspiration and empowerment at the Biosciences school outreach events at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens, on 28 & 29 November. Schools participated from Athens , Lamia, Chalkida and Xylokastro. Educational supervisor: Themis Gkion - Flow Athens.

Το Flow Athens σχεδίασε και υλοποίησε βιωματικά εργαστήρια STEM στα πλαίσια της εκδήλωσης για το Θερινό Ηλιοστάσιο στο Ίδρυμα Ευγενίδου. Συνδιοργανώθηκαν από τη Βιβλιοθήκη του Π.Ι.Ο.Π. και τη Βιβλιοθήκη Ιδρύματος Ευγενίδου.
Οι συμμετέχοντες/ουσες κατασκεύασαν τους δικούς τους φακούς και εισήχθηκαν βιωματικά σε βασικές έννοιες ηλεκτρικών κυκλωμάτων και ηλεκτρονικών στοιχείων.
Ζωγράφισαν με τους φακούς τους πάνω σε ομαδικές φωτογραφίες μακράς έκθεσης.
Εξερεύνησαν πρωτότυπους τρόπους αλληλεπίδρασης με τους υπολογιστές, αξιοποιώντας ηλεκτρονικά κυκλώματα που μετατρέπουν οτιδήποτε αγώγιμο σε πληκτρολόγιο.

Flow Athens designed and facilitated experiential STEM workshops at the Summer Solstice Event at Eugenides Foundation, co-organized by the libraries of Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and Eugenides Foundation.
The participants built their own LED flashlights and experienced an introduction to basics of electrical circuits and electronic components.
They collaboratively drew on long exposure photos with their flashlights.
Finally they explored prototype computer User Interfaces, utilising electronic circuits that convert anything conductible to a keyboard.
