Welcome to the participants of the BSA Ceramic Petrology Course 2026!
The Fitch Lab is delighted to be hosting 14 participants from all over the world - pictured here during the welcome drinks - for this hands-on training course. The course provides an introduction to ceramic petrology, building upon the Laboratory’s expertise in ceramic petrology applications and its extensive reference collections of geological and ceramic thin sections. It's a special pleasure this year for the Fitch team to collaborate with Yiannis Iliopoulos (Keramos Group, Department of Geology, University of Patras) in teaching the course.

📢 Event reminder!
Join us for the last lecture of the academic year, next week's online Friends Lecture by Dr Matthew P. Evans (University College Dublin), “Carving Connections: Inscriptions and the Study of Migration, Mobility, and Networks in the Ancient Greek World". This paper asks what inscriptions can reveal about movement and networks in the ancient world. Focusing on Samos, Miletus, and Priene, it explores how epigraphy records mobility across local, regional, and long-distance scales, while also assessing the selective, formalised, and civic frameworks that shape what becomes visible.
