The Annual Meeting of the EBSA, last night, was a very pleasant event.
We would like to thank the speaker, Prof. Christophe Flament of the University of Namur, for an insightful talk that was followed by a vibrant discussion.

We would also like to thank the Embassy of Belgium in Greece and Cyprus and especially his excellency Mr. Marc Calcoen, for his participation in the event and the generous sponsoring of the reception.

Finally, the EBSA is particularly proud of its Director, Prof. Athena Tsingarida, who has been appointed to the Lincoln Professorship of Classical Archaeology and Art in the Faculty of Classics at the University of Oxford. This means that this was her last time presenting the work of the School as its director and we are all very grateful for her contribution to the school and we wish her every luck. She will of course remain with us as the co-director of the Itanos Fieldwork Project.

Our Sissi!

During the Middle Bronze Age (2050–1600 BC), collective tombs on Crete were abandoned. The cemetery of Sissi in north-east Crete offers insights into the transformations in funerary, ritual and social practices on the island.
