The Mycenaean Foundation in partnership with New Scientist and Kirker Holidays hosted an unforgettable four-day-long program of field archaeology experience in October 2025. In addition to guided tours and lectures conducted by the President of the Foundation, archaeologist Dr. Christofilis Maggidis, the program included unique field archaeology experience in an innovative dig simulator as well as recording, dating, stratigraphy, pottery study, archaeological illustration and digital applications in the archaeology labs. Participants followed every single step of the dig process, learned many of the techniques and digital technology employed, and practiced field survey. Our dig simulator facilitates intensive, interdisciplinary "hands-on" education and practical field training in real conditions in the controlled environment of a simulated excavation field under the supervision and instruction of well-trained field archaeologists and specialists.

The Mycenaean Foundation extends their congratulations to one of their archaeologists and staff members, Chrysanthe Maggidis, on the success of her third solo art exhibition in Greece titled "KALOPSIA" at the Municipal Art Gallery of Corinth. The duration of the exhibition was from May 7-31, 2023.

The exhibition was sponsered by the Municipal Art Gallery of Corinth, the Mayor of Corinth, and the Mycenaean Foundation. The opening reception was a wonderful gathering of friends, family, and locals who enjoyed an evening of art and conversation. We thank you all for your support and are happy to be a part of Chrysanthe's artistic journey.

Το Μουσείο Ακρόπολης, με πρωτοβουλία του Ιδρύματος Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, φιλοξενεί την εμβληματική έκθεση «Ένδυμα Ψυχής», την πρώτη συνολική παρουσίαση σπουδαίων ενδυμασιών και στολών του 19ου αιώνα μέσα από 70 έργα τέχνης του φωτογράφου Βαγγέλη Κύρη και του εκφραστή της κεντητικής τέχνης Ανατόλι Γεωργίεφ. Οι καλλιτέχνες ώσμωσαν δημιουργικά τη φωτογραφία πάνω σε ύφασμα και, κεντώντας λεπτομέρειες των ενδυμάτων, δημιούργησαν μια νέα τέχνη με εξαιρετικά έργα παρουσιάζοντας τις ενδυμασίες με μοναδικό καλλιτεχνικό τρόπο, φορεμένες από σύγχρονους ανθρώπους.

Η έκθεση τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Α.Ε. της Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας Κατερίνας Σακελλαροπούλου.

Η συνολική μεγάλη παρουσίαση των έργων στο Μουσείο Ακρόπολης οφείλει την υλοποίησή της στο Ίδρυμα Μαριάννα Β. Βαρδινογιάννη, στο Εθνικό Ιστορικό Μουσείο και στο Ιστορικό Μουσείο Κρήτης για τις κρητικές ενδυμασίες.

"Raiment of the Soul"

The Acropolis Museum, following the initiative of the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation, hosts the emblematic exhibition titled “Raiment of the Soul”, the first complete presentation of garments and costumes of the 19th century, comprising of 70 artworks of the photographer Vangelis Kyris and the artist of embroidery Anatoli Georgiev. The two artists were able to create a new art form with exquisite artworks - photography on garment and embroidering details of the costumes - presenting the authentic costumes in a unique artistic way and worn by contemporary people.

The exhibition is under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The complete presentation of the exhibition takes place at the Acropolis Museum thanks to the support of the Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation, the National Historical Museum of Athens and the Historical Museum of Crete for the Cretan garments.

Days after the British Museum confirmed actions towards the signing and return of the Parthenon Marbles’ to Athens, the Greek Ministry of Culture released a statement renouncing affirmations of United Kingdom’s claim to ownership of the contested antiquities.

“We repeat, once again, our country’s firm position that it does not recognize the British Museum’s jurisdiction, possession and ownership of the Sculptures, as they are the product of theft,” reported by the Greek newspaper Η ΚΑΘΗΜΕΡΙΝΗ - Επίσημη σελίδα

The Marbles, Greece said, “are the product of theft.”

Pope Francis ordered the Vatican Museums to return the three Parthenon marbles held in their collections to Greece: part of the head of the horse pulling Athena’s chariot in the frieze on the west side of the Parthenon, and elements of the heads of a boy and a bearded man—have been in the Vatican Museums’ collections since the 19th century.

The Pope’s decision to give the Vatican’s three Parthenon marbles to the head of the Greek Orthodox Church creates mounting pressure on the British Museum to repatriate its marbles to Greece.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the Benaki Museum and the Center for Asia Minor Studies present the chronicle of Hellenism in Asia Minor through an exhibition.

An astounding exhibition that takes the audience from the "shine" of Hellenism in Asia Minor, followed by the period of persecutions, the end of World War I and the Treaties, the period of the Greek landing and the Asia Minor campaign, the "catastrophe" of 1922, as well as the Exodus of the refugees. The last section of the exhibition focuses on the settlement and integration of expatriates in Greece.
