The MA in the Politics and Economics of Contemporary Eastern and Southeastern Europe emphasizes in the interaction between politics and economics within the social and institutional context of the region. Candidates are required to submit the following documents:
1. An application form with a personal statement of purpose.
2. Certified copies of first degree and related transcripts, translated i
nto either English or Greek where necessary.
4. Proof of proficiency in English.
5. Two letters of recommendation. Proof of job experience, of other foreign language proficiency, or of holding a postgraduate degree will be additionally evaluated. Language of instruction: English
Duration: The programme lasts 13 months, but may be extended to 15 months under special circumstances. Fees: € 4000. Scholarships: A limited number waivers of tuition fees, per semester, are available for students with a strong academic record. Deadline: until places filled
In the last two decades there have been dramatic changes in both the political systems and economies of Eastern and South Eastern Europe (SEE). These economic and political developments are intimately interrelated. The initial political changes of the early 90’s had important economic consequences. Economic progress and prospects of the region are constrained by its political institutions and governance. At the same time, countries of the region have become full members of the European Union, some of the Eurozone, and other are in the process of accession to the European Union. Apart from the economic consequences European integration drives political reforms towards institutional and social restructuring. The MA in the Politics and Economics of Contemporary Eastern and South Eastern Europe aims at offering a comprehensive analysis of both political and economic development in the region, emphasising the interrelation between the two, and setting the institutional and social context of the region.
