Τhe International Standards for the training of scientific divers are now published.

The ISO 8804 series is aimed primarily at scientists and academics training to become scientific divers (at three levels of competency) and sets minimum requirements for the training of scientific divers at the three levels reflected in the names of the three parts. It will be beneficial both to organizations involved in training scientific divers and the scientific diving community as a whole.

According to the Vienna Agreement, where an International Standard is simultaneously approved as a European Standard, it automatically becomes a national standard for all CEN members.

Special thanks to all of you who have supported this important endeavour. It is a major achievement, which exceeded the ScienceDIVER project objectives.

🤿🌊🐠The Common Declaration aims to promote the discussion for the establishment of a common framework in Scientific Diving in Europe and the enhancement of mobility of scientific divers. It is based on activities and studies carried out in the framework of ScienceDIVER project and the feedback collected from key stakeholders and target audiences.

🗣️ The Common Declaration was adopted in the context of the ScienceDIVER International Conference held in Valletta, Malta, April 20th -21st 2023, during which it was open to public consultation with the goal to reflect the needs of scientific divers.

🔥Richard Stanulla is CEO of GeoWiD GmbH and works as scientific diver and geoscientist. He is training assistant at CMAS Scientific Diving Center at Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg. Richard does research in Oceanography, Paleontology and Geology. Their most recent publication is 'Technical surveys of dams by Scientific Divers – in-situ investigations and their implication.'
