Σύμφωνα με την Κατάσταση Δωρητών που δημοσίευσε το Υπουργείο Εθνικής Άμυνας (ΥΠΕΘΑ), η εταιρεία VIGILIS GROUP, από τις αρχές του 2026 μέχρι τις 21 Αυγούστου, έκανε δωρεές προς το Ειδικό Τμήμα Αλεξιπτωτιστών (ΕΤΑ), συνολικής αξίας 1.637.908,61€.

Swedish defense company Saab has received an order from France for its Giraffe 1X radar system integrated onto tactical vehicles, expanding French short-range air surveillance and counter-drone capabilities amid rising security concerns across Europe. Saab said the agreement covers mobile radar units intended to strengthen battlefield air-defense operations and improve detection of low-flying threats including drones, helicopters, and cruise missiles.

The Giraffe 1X is a compact 3D AESA radar capable of tracking multiple airborne targets simultaneously while operating on lightweight tactical platforms. Saab states the radar can detect small aerial objects at ranges of up to 75 kilometers and is optimized for rapid deployment in mobile combat environments. The system is also designed to support counter-UAS missions and short-range air-defense networks by providing real-time target data to missile and gun systems. France has accelerated investment in such capabilities following lessons from the war in Ukraine, where drone warfare and low-altitude strike threats have become central to battlefield operations.

The order reflects broader European efforts to reinforce layered air defenses as NATO members expand military spending in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and increasing concerns over drone saturation attacks. Saab has recently intensified its presence across Europe and Asia, promoting systems ranging from airborne early warning aircraft to ground-based radars and electronic warfare solutions. Analysts say demand for compact mobile radar systems is growing rapidly as militaries seek survivable, rapidly deployable sensors capable of operating in electronically contested environments.
