📆 Thursday 16th March
👉 Alliance Française de Banjul
On Thursday 16th March, the Alliance Française de Banjul organized its annual March of the Francophonie on Kairaba Avenue for the celebration of the Journée de la Francophonie. This year, there were 19 schools and more than 400 hundred people walking through Kairaba Avenue with banners, t-shirts, and panels putting forward the French language !
After the March, everyone came to our outdoor theater, first to listen to speeches given by Mrs. Senghore (Vice-President of Alliance), Mr. Bah (MoBSE) and Mrs. Guschlbauer (director of Alliance), and then to attend diverse theater plays and performances by schools !
Everyone had a great time attending these celebrations. This year, the Alliance held the record for the number of people present at the Journée de la Francophonie, with more than 450 people being in our theater !
We would like to thank everyone who came to enjoy this Journée de la Francophonie, and especially the schools who performed on stage. Moreover, this is also the opportunity for us to thank again all of our French speaking partners for working with us regularly on cultural and linguistic projects !

For this occasion, the French Ambassador to Senegal and to The Gambia, His Excellency Mister Ambassador Philippe Lalliot, came to Banjul to celebrate the Francophonie with us.
Please, note that the cocktail is on invitations only.
This is also the opportunity for him inaugurate two projects initiated by Alliance Française de Banjul in the last few months :

_ The new Campus France office, which has been represented by Mrs Honorine Ongbassomben since November 2022. This service allows Gambian students to get information on how to study in France.
Moreover, the Ambassador and His Excellency Mister Pierre Gomez, minister of Basic and Secondary Education and President of the Alliance, will jointly sign a contract initiating a Franco-Gambian cooperation project aiming to develop the teaching of French language in The Gambia. This project is in collaboration with the University of The Gambia and with the University of Caen.
Alliance Française de Banjul is very proud to welcome Mister Lalliot and Gomez for this special day ! We are also happy to gather with our francophone partners on this occasion, and would like to thank them all for their constant and loyal cooperation.

[CINÉCOLE] Le Cinécole Festival recommence à l’occasion de la Francophonie 2023 !
📆 March 2023 : Francophonie Month
👉 Gambian schools
In order to celebrate the Francophonie Month, during which we put forward the French language, the Alliance Française de Banjul decided to launch the second edition of its Cinécole Festival, which consists of broadcasting French movies in Gambians schools.
For this 2nd edition, we started by going to St Therese School on Monday 6th March, and to Glory Baptist School on Tuesday 7th March. We will then go to SBEC International School, as well as the Ecole Française de Banjul.
The two movies we chose to broadcast this year are Les contes de la nuit, by Michel Ocelot, and La traversée, by Florence Miailhe. These two animation movies will allow Gambian children to discover great cultural works, and moreover to be in touch with French language in a funny and original way.
Un grand merci to the four schools who collaborate with us on this project !
