Yesterday, 150 students from the Abba Bilingual School and Ecole Française Internationale de Banjul experienced an extraordinary day filled with creativity and discoveries!
On the agenda: the "Bestioles" Show by theater company Les Trébuchés, Object Theatre and Circus Workshops, chess moments of magic and learning.

80 students from the Abba Bilingual School experienced an extraordinary day filled with creativity and discoveries! The Compagnie Les Trébuchés transported the young students into a dreamlike universe where objects come to life, defying the laws of gravity. A poetic and fascinating show that amazed both the students and the team members.

This year, we marked with an inspiring event dedicated to women's rights, hosted in partnership with Amnesty International - The Gambia 💪

Through dynamic panel discussions, our incredible speakers delved into crucial topics, sparking meaningful exchanges and empowering conversations. 💬✨

This initiative is proudly funded by the France au Sénégal and France in the Gambia 🇫🇷 and implemented by the Alliance Française de Banjul with the invaluable support of our partners.

From December 5th to 7th, three innovative entrepreneurs from Gambia Tech brilliantly represented their country at the Casamance Innovation Tech in Ziguinchor, an event focused on "The Role and Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Economic Development."

Three startups participated: CONNEKT, Destination Jollof, and Farmhub GM, presenting innovative technological solutions in various sectors such as digital skills development, education, tourism, hospitality, and agriculture.

The event, funded under the FEF-R STARTUP EDGE program, offered insightful discussions, hands-on AI workshops, and stimulating hackathons, enabling participants to develop concrete solutions for the socio-economic development of the Casamance region.

From Mamadou the screenwriter to Soumayraa empowering women, from Laxmi the dancer to Dian the committed artist, each one sketches the contours of a more just and free future. A poignant narrative proving that youth is the driving force of social and environmental change. 🌟

"🏆 [WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROJECT] - ÊTRE UNE FEMME AVOCATE LEADER

As part of the Women's Empowerment Project, we highlight Barrister Anna Njie, a dynamic lawyer redefining legal leadership in The Gambia. A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court, Ms. Njie embodies professional excellence and social commitment.

⚖️ Exceptional Professional Journey: Graduated in law from the University of London and London Metropolitan University, Anna Njie quickly established her reputation in the legal field. Litigation Practice Manager at Amie Bensouda & Co LP, she oversees an impressive portfolio of over 200 cases with expertise covering labor law, intellectual property, immigration, and alternative dispute resolution.

🌍 Societal Impact: President of the Female Lawyers Association Gambia (FLAG), she actively advocates for women's and children's rights. Her leadership at WILDAF and involvement in international projects demonstrate her commitment to justice and development.

This project is funded by France au Sénégal and implemented by the Alliance Française of Banjul and its partners.

[SCHOOL] CONCOURS D'ÉLOQUENCE 2025

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from SBEC who participated in a pre-selection of candidates for the eloquence contest that will take place on April 3, 2025.

The theme was as follows: What are the challenges and opportunities for the Paralympic Games in the coming years? How can we contribute to their development?

This was followed by a second round dedicated to Paralympic athletes and their determination.

[RESIDENCY] RENCONTREZ PATRICK SINGH 🎨

Today, we are thrilled to introduce Patrick Singh Artwork, a French visual artist who will be joining our residency programme at the Alliance française de Banjul this December.

With a unique background that spans multiple artistic disciplines, Patrick brings a profound sensitivity to capturing the human stories of contemporary societies. He excels in painting, drawing, artist books, and travel journals, transforming his experiences into powerful visual narratives.

Throughout his career, Patrick has made significant impacts across continents. From South America to the United States, from Africa to Asia and Europe, his artistic installations have provoked admiration and reflection. Recently, he created "City Spirits" in Addis Ababa, exploring urban transformations in Ethiopia, and "Le Voyage Souterrain" at the Qara Prison in Meknès, a monumental installation honoring a UNESCO World Heritage site.

At the Alliance Française de Banjul, Patrick will not only showcase his art but also engage the community through interactive workshops.

We're excited to see how Patrick will capture the essence of Gambian life and creativity during his two-month residency! ✨

[THEATER]🎭 RETOUR EN IMAGES SUR "BACK"

Last Friday night, the play "BACK" drew a big crowd at the Alliance Française. Spectators came to discover this Brrr Production show on the outdoor stage.

The play tells the story of a woman returning to her village after 10 years away. The Senegalese actors managed to convey all the emotion and tension of this return. Berengère Brook, the director, created a powerful moment that makes you think about topics like migration and power.

Between laughs and more serious moments, the audience was captivated from start to finish. It was truly a beautiful evening of theater.

A big thank you to the entire team who made this performance possible!

[DELF EXAM] EXAMENS DELF EN COURS 📚

This week, students are taking the DELF exams at the Alliance Française de Banjul, the only authorized examination center in The Gambia. 38 students are registered for this session, including those from various institutions and backgrounds.

We wish all the students and teachers the best of luck! Your hard work and dedication will surely pay off. Keep pushing forward and remember that every effort counts. 💪🌟
