🛑 Part 9 of Life Skills Week at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International
Not all wounds are visible. In today’s session, students explored the realities of emotional and physical abuse, learning to recognize harmful behaviours, understand their impact, and appreciate the importance of speaking up.
By educating young people about respect, boundaries, and safety, we empower them to protect themselves and support others. 💙

🎬 Our First Student Production! 🎬

This week, two pupils from our Graduating Class of 2026 approached our Director with a simple request: they wanted to find a way to give back to the community that has nurtured and supported them throughout their educational journey.

His response was equally simple:
“Showcase what you love about this school.”

And so, they began their quest.

In just three days, through creativity, determination, and teamwork, they produced and directed this beautiful work of art entirely on their own. From concept to completion, every step of the project was led independently by these talented young students.

We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and grateful for the passion they have shown in celebrating our school community.

🚗 Part 7 of Skills Week at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International– Vehicle Maintenance & Basic Car Knowledge 🔧

Mr Christensen took students through a practical and eye-opening demonstration on basic vehicle maintenance and understanding your car. From learning how to locate and safely open the engine compartment, to identifying the fuel tank and understanding essential dashboard functions, the session gave students real-life knowledge every future driver should have.

We explored important safety and control features such as:
🛞 Tyre condition and tread measurement
💡 Car lights and their functions
📍 Speedometer and engine RPM gauge
🔊 Engine sounds and what they can mean
🌬️ How the engine cooling fan works
✋ Road hand signals and why they must be used carefully

Students also learned practical safety checks like engine oil inspection and why small routine checks can prevent big mechanical problems.

This session reminded us that driving is not just about moving a car it’s about understanding, responsibility, and safety.

🦺 Life Skills Week at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International– Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Students explored the real importance of safety beyond the classroom through powerful, hands-on demonstrations on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

From nails hidden under sand to impact tests on different types of shoes, students learned that danger is not always visible and protection is not optional.

The session showed how standard school shoes can fail against sharp objects, while protective toe shoes are designed to prevent serious injuries. Even clothing like jeans and short sleeves were discussed in relation to real world safety risks.

This is practical learning at its best preparing students for life outside school, where safety awareness truly matters. 🦺🔑

🚒 Fire Drill at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International Learning, Practice & Performance

From learning the basics to applying them under pressure, students experienced both a guided fire drill and a surprise test during Life Skills Week.

After being taught evacuation procedures, exit routes, and safety discipline, students were later tested unexpectedly and they delivered. In both drills, they showed calmness, discipline, and responsibility.

The highlight? A 3-minute evacuation time during the surprise drill, meeting international safety standards. ⏱️🔑

No panic. No confusion. Just real-life readiness in action.

This is more than a drill it’s preparation for life beyond the classroom. 🚒

LIFE SKILLS WEEK at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International – PART 4: THE BOYS’ SESSION
Today’s session reminded our boys that being a gentleman is about more than just appearance. Through lessons on etiquette, respect, responsibility, and integrity, they learned that true emulation character is reflected in everyday actions.
They also explored the perception society places on appearances and trends, discovering that a man’s worth is defined not by what he owns, but by his actions and how he chooses to comport himself.
Because boys with values grow into gentlemen of character. 💙✨

LIFE SKILLS WEEK at Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International – PART 3: THE GIRLS’ SESSION 🌸
From personal hygiene to menstrual health, our girls engaged in meaningful conversations about caring for their bodies with confidence and dignity. They learned that good hygiene goes beyond perfumes and products it’s about healthy habits, self-respect, and consistency.
A special reminder from Ndey touched many hearts: our mothers and grandmothers maintained excellent hygiene without all the products we have today. The real secret has always been cleanliness and discipline.
Because informed girls become empowered women. 💕✨

Life Skills in Action Part 2! At Groupe Scolaire Diana Mariam International, the kids learned sweeping and mopping with Aunty Betty 🧹🪣. Step by step, they practiced teamwork, confidence, and responsibility 💪🏽🌟. Proud moments of growth and learning together!
