Let’s do a to 2022! When our enumerators were on the field conducting a survey on "Addressing the drivers and causes of Vulnerability in migration among border Communities along the Trans-Gambia Transport Corridor" after completing intensive training.

The survey targets small-scale cross-border traders in Jarra West (Jarra Jenoi, Pakalinding, Soma, and Mansankonko) and Upper Baddibou (including Farafenni and Bretto), with a special emphasis on border crossing points at Keur Ali (Farafenni) and Missera.

A beautiful Monday Morning and Wishing everyone a productive week ahead!
Let’s examine the data on the waste collection methods across three LGAs from the Citizens Report Card (CRC).

The data shows that over 90% of respondents handle their waste themselves. Additionally, 3% utilize private collectors, 2% rely on the council, and 1% use unspecified methods. These findings underscore potential challenges in waste management, indicating a disconnect between councils and communities.

Addressing these issues is important for improving waste disposal practices and fostering a healthier environment.

Dear Fellow Gambians,

As we mark the 59th anniversary of our beloved nation's independence, it is a momentous occasion for us to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to building a brighter future for generations to come.

On this historic day, let us pause to honor the sacrifices of our forefathers and the struggles they endured to secure our freedom and sovereignty. Their unwavering determination and resilience laid the foundation for the vibrant and diverse nation we proudly call home today.

As Executive Director of the Center for Policy, Research, and Strategic Studies (CepRass), I am reminded of our collective responsibility to continue the work of nation-building and ensure that the aspirations of all Gambians are realized. At CepRass, we remain steadfast in our dedication to promoting good governance, fostering socio-economic development, and advancing the welfare of our people.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us also acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. From economic inequalities to environmental sustainability, there are pressing issues that demand our attention and concerted efforts. However, I am confident that with unity, determination, and innovation, we can overcome these challenges and chart a course towards a prosperous and inclusive Gambia.

On this Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to upholding the values of democracy, justice, and equality. Let us embrace diversity and inclusivity as strengths that enrich our nation's fabric. Let us harness the potential of our youth as the drivers of positive change and innovation.

As we look towards the future with hope and optimism, let us remember that the destiny of our nation lies in our hands. Together, let us build a Gambia where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive, where our rich cultural heritage is celebrated, and where peace and prosperity prevail.

On behalf of CepRass, I extend my warmest wishes to all Gambians, at home and abroad, as we commemorate this significant milestone in our nation's history. Happy 59th Independence Day!

Yours sincerely,

Lamin Dampha
Executive Director
Center for Policy, Research, and Strategic Studies (CepRass)

Good morning from CepRass!
As we register another milestone, we're excited to share the news of our recent accomplishments.

Yesterday, our Director of Consultancy and Training presented two groundbreaking reports at a validation workshop focused on strengthening and sustaining fiscal transparency and accountability in The Gambia.

The dissemination workshop highlighted the findings of social audits conducted on two vital State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs): the Gambia Ferry Services and NAWEC's Electricity Supply. These audits, spearheaded by CepRass and subcontracted by Gambia Participates, were generously funded by the US Embassy in Banjul.

Using the innovative Community Score Card (CSC) method, CepRass engaged both service providers and users in assessing the performance and accountability of these crucial entities. Through dynamic Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), distinct participant categories contributed valuable insights, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation process.

The validation workshop, held at the Metzy Residence Hotel in Kotu, showcased the lead consultant, Aja Fatou Senghore, as she presented the findings of the two reports. The session also included an interactive Questions and Answer segment, fostering dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders.

Wishing you a productive and inspiring day ahead!
