Earlier today, Smart Professional College was invited to attend the theatre performance JANAX YI AK NIT ÑI by the Theatre Company Gratte-Noyau — an event where theatre meets science held at Alliance Francaise de Banjul. The drama creatively highlighted the serious problem rodents cause on farms and in communities.

Through an engaging and educational approach, the play promoted practical and sustainable solutions based on the “One Health” concept, encouraging social change and improved community practices. It also focused on the sanitary risks linked to rodents.

Our officials were amazed by how the play hilariously explained some preventive measures farmers can take to reduce the presence of rodents on their farmlands. SPC congratulates Gratte-Noyau for such a wonderful edutainment and extends gratitude to Gambia Tech Protect for the invitation.

THE UNSPOKEN REQUIREMENT OF 2026

We were taught that illiteracy meant you couldn’t read or write. But in 2026, there is a new type of illiteracy and it is far more dangerous:
If you can't use digital tools
If you don't know how to navigate platforms
If new systems confuse you to the point of paralysis
You are functionally illiterate in today's world.

Think about it.
Opportunities are barely announced in newspapers — they are on Facebook, Instagram, Linkedln, X (Twitter) or WhatsApp groups.
Jobs are no longer about paperwork, they are on portals, apps, and platforms that expect you to be digitally fluent.
Even money itself is moving faster than some people — M-Pesa, PayPal, Wise and
mobile bankings like APS or Wave. And yet, many are still proud to say: "Me, I'm not into technology."
That is like proudly saying you can't read in 1970.

Digital literacy is not coding. It is not about becoming a hacker.
It is the basics:
Can you use Al tools to speed up your work?
Can you market yourself online without begging for "exposure"?
Can you adapt to new platforms the way you once adapted to typing on a smartphone
keyboard?
The painful truth is this: being left behind today is not about lack of effort, it is about lack of adaptation.
And, the world doesn't slow down for those who refuse to learn.
So, the real question is not "can you read or write?"
It is "can you adapt, learn, and thrive digitally?"

Because in 2026, DIGITAL FLUENCY is the new literacy!
