Bakoteh Upper & Senior Secondary School

The school administration, staff, students and parents of Bakoteh U&SSS wish to extend our heartiest congratulatory message to one of our ex-students who have raised the name of the school and her flag higher heights in the area of sports (football). Yankuba Minteh alias Bakoteh Messi has recently signed a transfer deal from Newcastle United to Brighton & Hove Albion FC. We pray that Allah SWT continues blessing him with good health, long life and massive success in his career. We will forever be grateful and thankful to you for putting the school's name in the limelight.

The school administration is sending our gratitude to the Agricultural Science Department teachers and students for the massive development currently making waves in the school garden. Students have cultivated peanuts 🥜 and cassava and both crops are doing extremely well.
On the other side, the Department through support from the administration and friends of the school has built a poultry house where 400 chickens 🐔 are currently being taking care.
Special thanks to Mr. Burama Jarju (HoD), Mr. Francis Mendy, Mr. Essa Sonko and our chief security officer of the school Mr. Badjie for their tremendous work and guidance they are according to the students from the classroom down to the field for them to practice what they have learned in the four corners of the classrooms.
In a couple of months to come, we will start selling some of the products and your support would definitely be needed as we continue to strive for the betterment of our school and students as a whole.

As the Regional Heats for Region One kick starts today at Abuko Upper and Senior Secondary School in Abuko Village. The school administration, staff, parents, and students wish to take this great opportunity and wish the school's Athletics Team a very resounding and successful competition. We pray that Allah SWT grant us victory in this year's competition with qualifiers in all the events aameen.
We also call on all the students, most especially those who will be with the athletes, to show them support to do it with caution and always follow the due protocols laid in by the GSSSA.
To the athletes and the head coach, Mr. Taal, be reassured of our continued prayers and support in any form where necessary. Let us all remember our motto, which is ME. As a school, we have no doubt in you and the team that you will all continue raising the school's flag higher heights In Saah Allah SWT.

It's moments of celebrations! We wish to celebrate the momentous achievements of our passed grade 9 batch for their exceptional perf in the last Gambia Basic Education Certification Examination,where two of our students scored aggregate 08 and the list goes on.
Big thanks to all the hardworking staff and the school administration for creating that enabling environment for both students and teachers to excel. We wish all our former students the best of luck in their Senior Secondary Schools and call on them all to continue working very hard for more excellent grades.

MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE TO THE ADMINISTRATION, STAFF AND STUDENTS.
Today May 30th,2023, the school through the Sports Department handed over an amount of two thousand eight hundred and forty Dalasi (D2,840.00) to The Gambia Athletics Platform. The donation was geared towards an initiative they launched a week ago to render a helping hand to the late Edi's wife, who delivered of a bouncing baby boy weeks ago.
We could all recalled that Edi was one of the finest national athlete, who has represented the country in so many competitions and has raised the country's flag to higher heights. We continue to pray to Allah SWT to have mercy on his gentle soul, forgive him of all his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdawus. May his wife and newly born baby have good health, long life, happiness and successes throughout their entire lives aameen.
We finally thanked the Gambia Athletics Platform for coming up with this great initiative of supporting the late Edi's family and pray that Allah SWT reward them all abundantly aameen.

SEEKING ASSISTANCE FOR LATE EDI WIFE AND BABY

Bakoteh Upper & Senior Secondary School have donated Two thousand eight hundred and forty dalasis D2,840. We would like to thank Mr Ousman Taal (Athletic team Head coach) for coordinating the collection and all staffs of Bakoteh UB/SSS. Edirisa represented Bakoteh UB and SSS in the 2019 national championship.

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS TO ONE OF OUR FINEST ATHLETES MARIAMA CAMARA ALIAS SIBO.
Sibo left the shores of The Gambia with her colleagues on Tuesday April 25th,2023 to represent The Gambia in the ongoing 2nd African U18 and U20 Combined CAA Championships in Lusaka, Zambia,from the 29th April,2023 to 3rd May, 2023.
Sibo took first position in her yesterday's heats for the 100m U18 girls, 3rd in the Semis and this evening she was backed with 4th position in her finals.
She is now left with 200m U18 girls. We pray that Allah SWT give her strength and fortitude to back with 1st position aameen.
Congratulations 👏🎉 Sibo once more.

Binta Jallow is a national record holder of the 400m girls in a time of 54.98 the previous one set in 2001 by Adama Njie was 55.32

Binta broke the record in her first international competition 2019 in Abidjan Ivory coast in the combined U18 & U20 Championship she ran in the U18 category.

Binta an athlete with a prominent future would have been one of the best young athletes in Africa currently if she was taken to a better training facility, we certain even Binta doesn't realized she broke the national record 😊

In 2019 Binta closed down a gap of at least 40m in the girls 4 by 400m relay final it was unbelievable how she managed to close that big gap and won the race for Bakoteh Senior Secondary School in the inter-schools final went on to break the national record that sake year.

THE TRUTH BE TOLD TO MR ISMAILA CEESAY (PRINCIPAL LATRIKUNDA SABIJI UPPER AND SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL WHO ALSO DOUBLED AS THE PRESIDENT OF GAMBIA SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION).
Mr. Ismaila Ceesay, you have now touch the school you are not supposed to touch. We will teach you a bitter lesson that you will never forget. If it wasn't for greed and hungry for position,you shouldn't in the first place opt to be president of GSSSA. You as the president of Gambia Teachers' Union should have ensure equal treatment to all schools but you as the president prefer your school over any other school even though a particular school is not at fault you will still have means of banning schools. This ban you levied on us will bounce back to you In Saah Allah SWT, your school is not also participating by the grace of Allah SWT. Tick for tack is indeed a fair game.

THE DISQUALIFICATION OF MARIAMA CAMARA ALIAS SIBO'S HARD EARNED CLEAN FIRST POSITION IN THE 200M RACE WAS A WITCH-HUNT FOR NOT ONLY THE SCHOOL BUT THE YOUNG GIRL.
I couldn't hold my tears yesterday after seeing Sibo crying bitterly with her team mates after the announcement by the announcer that she is being disqualified for finishing up in lane 5.
It is unfortunate that the decision of the disqualification of Sibo came from the chairman and not the corner flag man,in fact for corner flag man,he raised the green flag confirming that all the athletes are in their respective lanes but the chairman with his sharp eyes was abled to see at a distance that Sibo finished on lane 5. The chairman was even presented with a video footage but insisted that the footage was not clear to his eyes but at a distance he could see that Sibo finished on lane 5 .
Gambia how can we improve on our sports and encourage those who have passion for it to continue working hard with such people who are task to be in charge of the affairs of our sporting activities in the country?
We have no problems with athletic rules but it's must not involve any partisan.

MESSAGE OF SOLIDARITY AND PRAYERS TO OUR ATHLETIC TEAM AHEAD OF REGION ONE REGIONAL HEATS.
As we barely have less than 24 hours to the most anticipated and talked about regional heats,the school administration,staff and students wish to assure the Head Coach Mr. Ousman E. Taal and the entire team that our support and prayers shall always be with them in this competition as we are all ready to ensure that our title as National Champions is well defended.
We pray that Allah SWT or God protect you all from any form of evil, guard and guide you throughout the competition and finally give us victory with many qualifiers more than any other school across the country aameen.
We also calling on all our former students to kindly come to Abuko Upper and Senior Secondary School from tomorrow Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and final day Sunday 26th February,2023 to cheer up the team and give them more motivation to give us the victory we all yarn for and In Saah Allah SWT the victory shall be ours.

The Commerce Club of the school today presented the National Flag and also locally made dustbins to the school at a ceremony held in the school grounds.
The hoisting of the National Flag was witnessed by the principal Mr. Ismaila T. Sambou, VPs for both Upper and Senior, Senior Teachers, Cluster Monitor,the Teacher Coordinator of the Club and the Executive Members of the Club and a cross-section of the students.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the Coordinator and the students the students of the club for this gesture.

We want to take this singular honor to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the entire teaching staff of Bakoteh Upper and Senior Secondary School for producing yet another wonderful results in the just released Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE). The performance of the students this year has once more indicated how dedicated and committed the teachers are in ensuring that the students are accorded the best knowledge required for them to achieve their dreams in life,this is why the administration of the school deemed it necessary to show its appreciation to the entire teaching family of the school.

As part of our efforts in contributing our quarter towards the total eradication of the use of drugs by our young people, the school on Friday the 27th of May 2022, in collaboration with the Drug Law Enforcement Agency The Gambia, lunched it's first ever Drug Free Club.
The event was attended to by the Principal Mr Ismaila T. Sambou,PTA Chairman Mr Foday Ebrima Keita, Senior Teachers, staff and students of the school and the a high powered delegation from DLEAG , headed by the Public Relations Officer Mr Osman Saidybah and the Officer Commanding KM. Speeches,drama, recitation of poems on the dangers of drugs to individuals and society were among the activities of the ceremony.
A cake was sliced to symbolize the official lunching ceremony.

Earlier this morning the Ex- Students' Association of the school today paid a courtesy call to the Principal of the school Mr. Ismaila T. Sambou to discuss on potential support areas that they can offer to the school as a way of giving it back to the school. The team which was headed by Mr. Ebrima Jallow expressed their happiness on the trend in which the school is rapidly growing in terms of numbers as well as improvement on the learning environment compared to the time they were students when the school only had grades 7-9 but now had both the Upper and Senior Secondary.
The team also presented a cash of D7000.00 to the Principal as a token of appreciation to the athletics team of the school after their victorious achievement in the recently Gambia Senior Secondary School Sports Athletics Championship, where the school was crowned champions of the 2022 National Championship.
For his part, the Principal expressed his gratitude to the gesture on behalf of the entire school and call on all those who pass through the school to come join hands and give back to their school as anywhere you go today Ex- Students'Association play a key role in the development process of their former schools.
In attendance were the Head Coach Mr. Ousman Taal, Mr Sylvester Sanyang president of the team and a host of athletes.

Earlier this morning,the Drug Free Club of the school hosted it's first ever meeting after the visit of the senior officials of DLEAG.
Today's meeting was called upon to put the house in order in preparation towards the much talked about lunching ceremony which is slated to take place immediately after Ramadan. The meeting was attended to by some senior officials of the school in the persons of Mr Louis S. Gomez, Auntie Jarata Cole Sanyang, Mr Alfusainey S. Jatta and Mr. Ndambou Jarju plus the teacher coordinators Mr. Yahya Makalo, Mr. Alhagie Jarju and Mr. Babucarr Manneh who all spoken on the importance of the club and called on to the students to take the club seriously as it has come to help fight against the use of illicit drugs and also create awareness on the dangers to the human body, societies and the country as a whole.
The meeting ended with a recitation of the poem by of the students member in the name of Aja Bintou Camara.

Sunday the 27th of March ,2022, two of our female athletes in the persons of Saffiatou Sanneh and Rohey Saidy took part in a marathon organized by Africell. Saffiatou Sanneh participated in 10km race and ended third position while Rohey Saidy took a second position in 5km race.

The school on Friday 1st April,2022 created one of the most important club in the school called Bakoteh Upper and Senior Secondary School Drug Club. The aim of the club is to create awareness on the dangers of drugs and its abuse. This club came into being after a visit to the school by the senior officials of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency under the stewardship of the Mr Saidybah the PRO. The lunching proper will take place after Ramadan Allah willing,where we will invite high personalities, parents and students of the school.
