Beyond the Classroom: BISG in the United Kingdom
This Spring Term, our students travelled from The Gambia to the United Kingdom for an enriching residential experience at PGL Windmill Hill. Between scaling heights, navigating challenges, and working collaboratively, they demonstrated admirable courage, resilience, and team spirit — often discovering strengths they did not know they possessed.
There were, of course, moments of hesitation (usually just before climbing something rather high), but these were quickly replaced by determination, laughter, and a strong sense of achievement.
We extend our sincere thanks to our parents for their continued trust, and to our dedicated staff and leadership team for ensuring a safe, purposeful, and memorable experience. Above all, we commend our students for embracing the journey so wholeheartedly.
At BISG, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom — and this was a fine example of just that.

The Year 10 to 13 Physics students of BISG recently swapped their lab coats for a deep dive into the world of medical technology at the Radiology Department of the Egyptian Medical Centre. As a hub for advanced diagnostics in The Gambia, it provided a fascinating look at the real-world application of physics principles in the medical setting.
We were incredibly fortunate to be hosted by the CEO and expert radiology team, who gave our students a front-row seat to the science behind Ultrasound, X-rays and CT scans. Seeing these complex principles in action was both eye-opening and deeply educational.
A profound thank you to the Egyptian Medical Center for welcoming us and sparking such curiosity in our future scientists and medical professionals.

Literacy Week 2026: “Building Worlds Through Words!” 🌟
What a phenomenal journey we had last week at the British International Junior School! Our
Literacy Week was more than just a celebration of books; it was a vibrant showcase of culture,
future dreams, and community service. From the classroom to the national stage, our students
proved that reading is the key to unlocking the world. 🌍📖
Here is a look back at our incredible week:
💼 Monday: Future Profession Day
We kicked off the week looking toward the horizon! Students arrived dressed as the doctors,
pilots, engineers, and leaders of tomorrow. Most importantly, they carried books written by
experts in their chosen fields, connecting their current studies to their future success.
🌍 Tuesday: Traditional Outfits & Community Outreach
Culture and compassion took centre stage! While the school was a sea of beautiful traditional
tribal wear, our Year 4 students embarked on a mission to St. Therese’s Lower Basic School.
They spent the day as "Reading Ambassadors," peering up with students to share stories and
donating books to promote a culture of reading across our sister community. 🤝
🏛 Wednesday: Exploring our National Treasures
Our Years 5 and 6 students took literacy to the city! They visited both the Gambia National
Library and the KMC Library. From meeting the National Library Director to exploring the
modern computer labs at KMC, it was an "explosive" day of historical and modern discovery
that left every student inspired.
🎨 Thursday: The Living Alphabet & Pledges for the Future
The school turned into a human dictionary! Students wore white shirts hand-painted with their
assigned letters, creating a "Living Alphabet" across the campus. We also grew our "Pledge
Tree," decorated with heartfelt promises from our students to keep reading and learning every
day. 🌳📝
💤 Friday: Cosy Reading & Pyjamas Day
We ended the week by focusing on the simple joy of a good book. Dressed in their favourite
pyjamas and wrapped in blankets, students enjoyed "Cosy Reading Time" across the school,
proving that there is nothing better than getting lost in a story!

Learning Beyond the Classroom 🌍🐟
The Year 10 Business Class and Young Entrepreneurs Club of BISG had an insightful educational visit to SNK Company Limited in Tanji. As a company exporting fish from The Gambia to Greece and Spain, it was inspiring for our students to witness international trade in action.
We were truly privileged to meet the CEO and the management team who warmly welcomed us, guided us through their operations, and made the experience both educational and memorable.
Thank you, SNK Company Limited, for investing in the learning and inspiration of the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Happy Women’s Day.
