The ceremony brought together senior lecturers, members of the D***A Executive Committee, scholarship awardees, and the general student body of the Department of Diplomacy and International Relations.

JULY RECAP!
D***A CONCLUDES SECOND EDITION OF NATIONWIDE TOUR

The Diplomacy and International Relations Students Association (D***A) has successfully concluded the second edition of its Nationwide Tour, marking another significant milestone in the Association’s commitment to experiential learning, academic exposure, and student development.

The tour brought together students of Diplomacy and International Relations for a series of educational, cultural, and institutional engagements designed to connect classroom knowledge with real-world experiences. From the opening activities in Janjangbureh to the final engagements, participants had the opportunity to explore the historical, political, cultural, and administrative dimensions of the communities visited.

The tour commenced with a morning workout from Bao Bolong Lodge to Sankulay K***a Bridge, followed by a courtesy call to the Janjangbureh Area Council and the Office of the Governor of the Central River Region, Lower River Region, Upper River Region and North Bank Region. The delegation was warmly received by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Sainey Mbye, who, on behalf of the Governor of CRR, welcomed the students and emphasized the importance of educational tours in broadening their understanding of governance, diplomacy, and national development.

Throughout the tour, students engaged in activities that encouraged learning beyond the traditional classroom environment. The experience provided participants with valuable insights into local governance, history, culture, leadership, and the practical realities of diplomacy and national development.

Lecturers and departmental representatives also played an important role in enriching the experience. Lecturer Madam Jarreh Jammeh encouraged female students to take diplomacy seriously, believe in their abilities, and aspire to leadership positions within the field. Mr. Charles Demba, Administrative Assistant to the Department, urged students to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the tour.

Beyond the academic and institutional engagements, the tour also fostered stronger bonds among students, encouraged teamwork, and created lasting memories. It served as a platform for students to learn from one another while appreciating the diverse historical and cultural heritage of The Gambia.

The successful conclusion of the second edition of the Nationwide Tour is a testament to D***A’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for its members. The Association believes that education extends beyond lecture halls, and this tour once again demonstrated the value of learning through direct engagement and experience.

D***A extends its sincere appreciation to all lecturers, departmental authorities, students, institutions, local authorities, hosts, and individuals who contributed to the success of the tour. Special appreciation goes to the Janjangbureh Area Council and the Office of the Governor of the Central River Region for their warm reception, hospitality, and support throughout the delegation’s visit.

As the second edition comes to a close, D***A looks forward to building on the successes and lessons of this year’s tour and making future editions even more impactful.
