PUBLIC NOTICE
THE GAMBIA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (USET)
The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) was transformed into Gambia University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) with effect from November, 2020. GTTI was established by an Act of Parliament in 1980 to provide training opportunities for the middle and sub-professional levels of the technical and vocational human resource requirements of the country. GTTI expanded its programmes over the years from the original craftsmanship level provision to Full Technological Certificates (FTC) and Diplomas. The transformation of GTTI into USET is based on Gambia’s human resource development objectives as enshrined in various government policy documents such as the education policies, Vision 2020 and subsequently the current National Development Plan 2018-2021. The Gambia University of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology (USET) compromises three major academic units. These are: (1) Institute of Technical Training (ITT), (2) Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE), and (3) College of Science and Engineering (CSE).

The Institute of Technical Training (ITT) continues to implement the mandate of the former Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) and focuses on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). All the certificate and diploma programmes of the former GTTI and its outreach centres are still offered.

The Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE), a newly established unit of the University, focuses on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Business Development, and training of students and staff of USET and the community at large. A Technology Transfer Office, Business Incubation Unit, and Business Development Office have been established under the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) focuses on programmes that lead to Bachelor of Science Degrees in Science and Engineering disciplines relevant to The Gambia. The College currently offers programmes leading to Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and Bachelor of Community Building and Design.
