Day 1 on the Madrassa Teacher Training Program. These six (6) proposed IT Teacher were selected by their various Madrassas namely;
*Gunjur Islamic Institute for Science & Technology
* Omar Bun Khatab Islamic Institute and
* Sheikh Muhammed Nasir Islamic School.
The Training will be a six day intensive training program to prepare these identified teachers for the task ahead

A few weeks ago we visited one of the schools in our education program in The Gambia. Our whole team was deeply moved by what we found at the Darul Arkam School in Brikama. In one of the poorest neighbourhoods of the city, and all 724 students come from poor families, over 100 of them are orphans who come to school hungry. Teachers do not get salaries. The headmaster is housing 40 kids in his own house!
"Sorry, I cannot afford to have more than 40 orphans in my house, I wish I could host them all," says the headmaster in interaction with him. We decided that this school needs more help than just a computer room and teacher training, and we started to feed the orphan children at lunchtime. Our next step is a decent toilet building to safeguard the sanitary situation in the school.
