On Saturday, 23rd May, the Deputy Information and Communications Minister of the 16th Executive Council, Baboucarr F. Jammeh represented EDUSA at the official launch of the SkillBridge Foundation at American Corner, Fajara.
The SkillBridge Foundation is a youth development organization dedicated to closing the gap between academic learning and professional life for young people in The Gambia. The foundation aims to equip young people with digital competency, high-performance skills, career direction, and real-world professional exposure.
Speaking at the launch, the founder, Kawsu Kanteh, noted that the organization was established after identifying a significant gap between academic training and workplace demands. He highlighted challenges many university graduates face, including limited digital skills, lack of career clarity, weak professional exposure, and a disconnect between education and the workforce.
In response, the foundation was created to provide mentorship and guidance to young people, and to help bridge the long-standing disconnect between the classroom and the workplace.
The foundation is set to open applications for the first batch of fellows into the fellowship and mentorship program, starting in two weeks' time.
At the end of the event, participants took a group photo and networked to share memories and exchange ideas.
