73% of Gambian women aged 15–49 have undergone Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM).
Behind this number are millions of girls whose voices deserve to be heard.

FGM is often carried out in the name of tradition yet it causes lifelong trauma, health complications, and pain. Despite being banned by law, the practice continues across generations.

At the Nova Scotia Gambia Association (NSGA), we’re working with schools, youth, and leaders across The Gambia to raise awareness, educate, and empower communities to say no to FGM.

Through our Life Skills and Health Education programs, we encourage open dialogue about gender, health, and human rights, helping communities choose protection over harm. 🌍❀️

Together, we can end FGM.

Today, on the International Day of the Girl Child, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and future of every girl.

Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) is internationally recognized as a violation of the human rights of girls and women. Ending this practice requires education, advocacy, and collective action from communities, leaders, and youth.

Together, we can create a world where every girl is free to grow, learn, and thrive without fear or harm. 🌍✊
