Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Undergraduate degree programmes in the different fields of study in the University of The Gambia. This includes the recently introduced Journalism and Digital Media programme. Mature as well as Regular candidates can apply for admission. For information on the programmes and admission requirements, kindly contact the University Finance Office for the appropriate brochure.
APPLICATION FORMS:
Application forms are obtainable from the University Finance Office, Faraba Banta Campus at a non- refundable fee of D300 (Regular), & D500 (Matured) respectively. Completed application forms, together with photocopies of relevant certificates and other supporting documents should be submitted to the Admissions Office, Brikama Campus, Gambia College not later than July 2016
Note
Candidates admitted into the University will be required to pay tuition fee for at least one semester, before they can register for courses. The tuition fee covers tuition and other charges. Costs of books and learning materials must be covered by the student. Information on Tuition Fees for the different programmes can later be obtained from the University Finance Office.

THE GALA DINNER

1. The gala is aimed at improving social ties among UTG students.

2. The gala is incorporated with the annual students retreat.

3. The gala is not a couples' Program (prom); rather,everyone can come on their own with simple and formal outfit.

4. It will be a rich and high quality program; a world class standard. Food and refreshment will be available (for free).

5. The gala is funded by the admin and UTGSU.

However, only 200 out of the 5000 UTG students and staff will have the privilege of attending the program as postulated in the budget.

Consequently, limited D200-tickets are issued for students seeking to grace the occasion.

Tickets will be sold prior and during the program.

COLLECTION OF GOWNS

Dear All
Gowns for the Matriculation Ceremony are due for collection on the
28th September, 2015.

Faculty Officers should collect the requisite number of gowns at
Faraba Campus/Brikama Campus.

The gown rental fee is D100.00. We have limited gowns and therefore
gowns will be issued on a first come first serve basis.

Upon payment of the gown rental fee to the Accounts Department, the
student will be issued with a receipt which he/she will present to the
Faculty Officers.

We got a 'Not-Yet' Official Invitation from The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)-The Gambia to their forthcoming Nigerian Independence Dinner to be held on the 16th of October 2015: added information in regard to the Dinner will be communicated to you all. In so doing, the NANS committee requested that students from each school be represented in the Competition for the Dinner which includes Dancing, Singing, Most Pretty and Most Handsome, amongst others. Anyone interested can communicate Wobya (Social Secretary NANS) on 2343162 on or before the 20th of this month, September. Best of Luck.

SENATE RESOLUTION ON FRENCH COURSES

At its meeting held on Saturday 12th September, 2015, Senate
deliberated extensively on the French Courses and the decision is
summarized below:

a) That as part of the GER, Foreign Language Requirements, all
students offering French must do French 101 and 102 (Compulsory)

b) That those offering Arabic, Spanish , Turkish or any other Foreign
Language must do the prescribed courses e.g. Arabic 101 and 102,
Spanish 101 and 102, Turkish 101 and 102 etc.

c) That those students who demonstrate interest in French beyond the
GER level have the option to enroll in higher level French courses
during the summer sessions at their own expense and convenience.

CONVOCATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Dear All
The University Community is hereby informed that the Chancellor of the
University of The Gambia, H.E Sheikh Professor Alhagie Dr. Yahya AJJ
Jammeh Babili Mansa, has approved the Senate's request for UTGs
Convocation Ceremonies to be held on the last Saturday of January
every year.
In consequence thereof, the next Convocation is scheduled for 30th
January, 2016. The time and venue will be communicated in due course.
In this regard , eligible graduands are hereby requested to complete
and submit the release of certificate form to their respective Faculty
Officers as soon as practicable. Non submission of this form as well
as the payment of a processing fee of D200.00 will render candidates
ineligible.
Faculty Officers are hereby directed to categorize the graduands as follows:
December 2013-All candidates who completed their programmes in
December 2013 and did not take part in the Convocation that was held
in March 2014 are advised to apply for graduation through their
Faculty Officers.

FINAL DECISION ON THE GRADING SYSTEM.

THE UTG LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION wish to inform all students that a final decision on the Grading Policy has been reached this afternoon at a meeting convened between the Governing Council (SUB COMMITTE) and the Students Reps.

The OLD GRADING SYSTEM will continue to be applicable for all CONTINUING STUDENTS whilst The NEW GRADING POLICY will be applicable on all New Students with Matriculation Number 215...... only. The reason being that the resolution on the New Grading Policy was passed in July 2014 by SENATE well before those students with the above mentioned Matriculation Number were admitted into the UTG to pursue their various disciplines of study.

UPDATE ON THE GRADING SYSTEM.
THE UTG LAW STUDENTS ASSOCIATION wish to inform you all that information dished out by President of the UTGSU to all students during a meeting held at the Faculty of Law Auditorium, has it that the Grading System policy has been reversed to the OLD GRADING SYSTEM for all CONTINUING STUDENTS. This decision was reached during a SENATE MEETING convened this afternoon 30th of March, 2015.
In essence, no continuing student will be affected by the NEW GRADING POLICY.
This is to say that the GRADING ISSUE is now resolved for all University Students before SEPTEMBER 2014 whilst NEW STUDENTS currently in their SECOND OR FIRST SEMESTERS bearing the MATRICULATION NUMBER BEGINNING WITH 215........ will be graded as per the NEW GRADING SYSTEM pending the outcome of a SENATE SUB COMMITTEE meeting With selected Students representatives from all the different schools within the University to be convened on the 6th of April, 2015.
Meanwhile, students in their first year otherwise referred to as NEW STUDENTS are being assured that their plight is also a concern and efforts will continue to be employed towards reaching an amicable solution.
We will also want to place on record our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire UTG Student family for the show of the spirit of UNITY.

has gained international attention. The
girls were kidnapped by militants from
their school in Chibok two weeks ago.
Therefore, the UTG Nigerian Students' Association is calling upon members of the Association, Students of the University of The Gambia, Nigerians worldwide, and every Nations and people in it to pray for this deplorable act that caught up our girls by the inhumaneness of the terrorist group that has brought more harm and no good to our beloved country, Nigeria.
