*JOY IS A CHOICE (I PRAY YOU FIND ENCOURAGEMENT IN THIS)*

I remember many years ago when I started learning about the concept of *JOY* I made up my mind to practice maintaining my joy in the midst of challenges. This decision was born out of my love for practice because I have always believed in the practicality of knowledge and therefore endeavor to practice everything I learn.

This decision of maintaining my joy was one of the best decisions I ever made because challenges began to arise sooner than I thought.

It was as though all hell broke loose in my life and family. It seemed as though heavens got shut because those days I prayed with my whole heart but I saw no results the way I wanted to but I was determined not to loose my joy. One of the most tragic moments was when my only sister whom I would consider my best friend got sick, we did all we could to give her the best medical treatment but she eventually passed away. Due to her illness our finances got drained and everything worsened but I was determined to maintain my joy in the midst of the storm!

As years went by I kept experiencing challenges of all sorts, that were potent enough to make any ambitious young man frustrated. My greatest desires and dreams felt like they would never come to pass but I was determined to maintain my joy in the midst of the challenges!

What made Paul and Silas pray and sing hymns in prison? Joy! Can you imagine being beaten and put in prison yet sing hymns to God? These men would not allow their circumstance to determine their response. They responded with hymns because even though they were physically imprisoned they had liberty within. It takes joy to sing in the midst of chaos!

In the midst of the challenges I would always keep a smile on my face, I would sing and I would dance because I know that my tomorrow is greater than my today.

Joy has nothing to do with the circumstances around you, it is a deliberate choice that you make.

My Bibles says “weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning….” I found out that I didn’t have to wait for my morning to come to be joyful but I can determine when my morning comes by being joyful (please read that again).

I wrote this piece to encourage someone who is experiencing challenges and is at the verge of giving up. Determine in your heart that no matter what happens you will always be joyful!

Remember joy is a choice! Paul and Silas turned their trials into triumph by singing (an expression of joy). You can change your circumstance by changing your response. Express your joy today in smiling, singing and in dancing knowing that no matter the storm that comes against you, you’ll still be standing.

Don’t give up!
Don’t throw in the towel!
Maintain your joy!

You may not be able to control the circumstances that arise around you but you have the power to control how you respond to them.

You have two options: it’s either you respond as a victim or as a Victor!

Choose to respond as a Victor! The choice is yours!

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

YOUR INVESTMENT WILL YIELD RESULTS

Dearly beloved, I am writing this piece as a word of encouragement for you. The investments you are making today will no doubt yield results in the future!

Early hours of this morning, I decided to make an estimate of how much I have spent purchasing books and study materials over the past ten years 😊

I just realized that I have spent a whole lot of money just buying books.

I remember using my entire stipend just buying books and exhaust all of my money in the book store. I would sit in the store and read an entire book because I couldn’t purchase it since I’d used up all my financial resources.

I would buy books, head back home and ask my Mom or Sister to borrow me some more money just so I could go back and buy more books.

I would lock myself up just reading and shedding tears. I would cry while reading because I knew that a day would come when I will be smiling.

The Bible says in Psalms 126:5 says “Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy”.

Today, the truth is I am full of joy because of the rewards of years of sowing in tears. I have not considered myself as someone who has arrived but the truth is I am not where I used to be in life!

I am sharing this with you because you may be investing in yourself today and it may seem as though your efforts are futile. Be encouraged because you will see the results of your labour in your future.

Always remember that the seed you are sowing today will bring forth a harvest tomorrow.

Don’t be discouraged!
Keep pushing!
Keep moving!
You are almost there!
