The 17th Executive Council of UTG-AESSA, through the Education and Research Ministry, hereby informs the general student body and the public of the official commencement of the Senior Secondary School Mentorship and Tutorial Cycle for the 2026 academic year.

As part of this initiative, the Education and Research Ministry, on 20th May 2026, conducted a visit to Latrikunda Sabiji Junior and Senior Secondary School, where fruitful and insightful engagements were held with students on matters relating to career guidance and the indispensable role of agriculture in national development.

The initiative is aimed at fostering academic excellence, promoting informed career choices, and enhancing studentsโ€™ understanding of the significance of agriculture as a key driver of sustainable national growth and development.

The Association remains committed to extending mentorship, academic support, and educational advocacy to students across senior secondary schools.

The 17th Executive Council of UTG-AESSA is pleased to inform the general student body that the First AESSA MANSA K***A Dialogue was successfully held on Saturday, 9th May 2026, at the SAES Theater.

The engagement brought together the Executive Council, Advisory Board, Legislative Council, and Electoral Commission to discuss their constitutional mandates, functions, and institutional relationships within the Association.

The session was facilitated by Honorable Muhammed Ceesay, Secretary General of the University of The Gambia Studentsโ€™ Union and witnessed active participation from students and stakeholders.

The Executive Council extends its sincere appreciation to all attendees for contributing to the success of the Dialogue.

The 17th Executive Council wishes to inform the general student body that the Association has received forty (40) moringa tree seedlings from Professor Babatunde.

The initiative was facilitated by Professor Babatunde, who initially assigned the cultivation of the moringa seedlings to his students as part of an academic exercise. Following the successful completion of the exercise, he generously donated the seedlings to the Association in support of environmental sustainability and agricultural development initiatives.

As part of UTG-AESSAโ€™s commitment to promoting sustainable environmental practices and supporting national agricultural development, the seedlings were subsequently presented to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

The Executive Council expresses its sincere appreciation to Professor Babatunde for his generous contribution and continued support towards advancing agricultural and environmental initiatives within the Association.

The 17th Executive Council is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Leadership Training Program held today, 6th May 2026, at the SAES Theatre.

The training brought together 57 participants from various arms of the association and was facilitated by Team Leadership and Public Speaking (TLPS-Gambia), under the leadership of Mr. Babou E. Sarr, Chairman, alongside Honorable Musa Sonko, Head of the Leadership Department.

The program featured engaging and insightful sessions aimed at enhancing participantsโ€™ leadership and public speaking skills.
Participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, active participation, and commitment throughout the training. Certificates were awarded to all participants upon successful completion.

The Executive Council extends its appreciation to the facilitators and participants for making the program a success and remains committed to strengthening leadership capacity within UTG-AESSA.

The 17th Executive Council wishes to inform the student body that a delegation of the Association, led by the President, Mr. Ebrima Sillah, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Luรญs Camarรก de Barros, Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau to The Gambia, at the Embassy in Banjul.

The visit aimed to formally present the Associationโ€™s planned International Research Trip to Guinea-Bissau, scheduled for 28th June, 2026. The initiative seeks to promote academic exchange and expose students to agricultural and environmental practices within the sub-region.

In his remarks, His Excellency; the ambassador commended the initiative and emphasized the importance of educational and agricultural collaboration in advancing regional development. He further assured the delegation of the Embassyโ€™s support in facilitating relevant institutional engagements.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œConnecting Agriculture and Environmental Sustainability Between Banjul and Bissau,โ€ highlights our commitment to bridging theory with practical experience in agriculture and environmental sustainability.

Participants will engage in field research, institutional visits, and interactive sessions with experts across The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. This cross-border experience offers valuable insight into sustainable practices, environmental management, and regional cooperation.

Beyond academics, the tour provides a unique opportunity to explore, network, and gain practical exposure to real-world environmental solutions.
