The name is derived from Isaiah 62: 4 “Hephzibah” which means , “the delight of the Lord”, but shortened to ZIBAH for easy pronunciation. THE SCHOOL:
The school will admit and cater for all kinds of children from the age of 9 months, without prejudice or preference for a particular s*x, race, tribe, religious belief, social status or political persuasion of parent or guardian. Adepeju Dara, as
far back as when she was in the University. She came to The Gambia in 1997 and the dream was still bubbling in her but she needed time to put things together, in the interim, she was offered a job as the Head Mistress at New Covenant Nursery School, the position she held for two years until she voluntarily resigned
THE BIRTH:
On the 13th of September 1999, a new baby in the early education in The Gambia was given birth to. Zibah School which has now become a household name in The Gambia was born with Mrs. Adepeju DARA as the Proprietress and Mrs Maria ASHCROFT as the Gambian Partner . Like the proverbial building of a castle that must start with a single block, this big dream turned reality, also started very small, small enough to discourage anybody without a vision and purpose. The first class started with only one
pupil but the school has grown tremendously since then, thanks to vision, purpose and tenacity . Today Zibah children are in virtually all reputable schools within and outside the country, some of whose parents or guardians still acknowledge that it was the foundation from Zibah that was built upon. Dara who apart from being a trained teacher with a bachelor’s Degree in
English Education from the prestigious citadel of learning, University of Lagos, Nigeria, her training as a children’s teacher by children evangelism Ministry endeared her heart to children which informed her decision to start a Nursery School where she can have daily encounter with children..
