Earlier today, one of our members, Binta KK Fatajo, made history as the first representative from Central Badibou District to take part in the 3rd August sitting of The Gambia Childrenโs National Assembly at the National Assembly. This marked a proud moment for Central Badibou, having a representative at the Childrenโs Assembly for the very first time.
Hon. Binta actively participated in high-level deliberations under the theme In her intervention, she highlighted the pressing challenges affecting vulnerable children in her district, including climate change, drug abuse, mental health issues, sexual and gender based violence, and child labor. She further called on the Government to invest in more awareness campaigns to address these challenges and to ensure that the voices of children are included in shaping policies that tackle such issues.
Join us in congratulating Hon. Binta KK Fatajo for amplifying the voice of Central Badibou at the national level.

From the 22nd to 28th of July 2025, a one-week intensive Summer Youth Camp was successfully conducted in Badibou Salikenni Village. The camp brought together young participants from the community and beyond, focusing on three central thematic areas: Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Peace and Conflict Resolution. The training sessions aimed at equipping participants with vital life and practical skills necessary for self-growth, innovation, and community development.
One of the key highlights of the camp was the hands-on training in entrepreneurship and product development. Participants were taught how to process and preserve local fruits and transform them into marketable products. Practical demonstrations included the making of dukula with supper series, pepper sauce from local vegetables, and herbal tea bags using traditional herbs such as wonjo, jambakatang, and others. These sessions provided participants with business ideas and empowered them with knowledge that could lead to self-employment and income generation.
In addition to the capacity-building sessions, the camp also promoted social responsibility through community service. The youth actively engaged in cleaning key public places including the Salikenni Central Mosque, Touray K***a Mosque, and Fatty K***a Community Mosque. This initiative fostered a sense of unity, service, and ownership among the participants.
The camp was initiated and organized by Salikenni Youth and Salikenni Njenjul Killin, in partnership with Peace Ambassadors - The Gambia. The collective efforts of the organizers, facilitators, and trainers made the camp an impactful and memorable event.
In conclusion, the Summer Youth Camp provided a meaningful platform for young people to gain knowledge, develop skills, and contribute positively to their community. Appreciation goes to all individuals and institutions who contributed to the planning, facilitation, and success of this youth-centered initiative. It is our hope that such programs continue to grow and reach more young people across the region.

On behalf of Salikenni Lower and Upper Basic School, we wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the ex-student who graciously took the lead in coordinating the 2025 Passing Out and Prize Giving Ceremony held on the 23rd of July.
Your outstanding dedication, selfless service, and commitment to giving back to your former school is both admirable and inspiring. From the early planning stages to the smooth ex*****on of the event, your efforts played a major role in making the ceremony a successful and memorable one. You worked tirelessly behind the scenes, mobilizing support, coordinating activities, and ensuring that every detail was handled with care and professionalism.
It was clear to all who attended that your love for the school and community remains strong, and your contribution is a shining example of true leadership and patriotism. You reminded us that education does not only end in the classroom, but lives on in the way we choose to support and uplift others.
We are deeply proud of you and grateful for the legacy you continue to build. May your journey ahead be filled with greater achievements and continued blessings. You have indeed made a positive mark, and for that, we say thank you.
