“Walking into the chamber on the first morning, you become very aware that words spoken in a place like that decide how people live.”
Recently, Puneet had the incredible opportunity to travel to Sydney and represent Gibraltar at the 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament, joining young delegates from across the Commonwealth.
The theme this year was, "Democracy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" and delegates from across the Commonwealth debated proposed AI legislation in the Legislative Council chamber. Puneet was elected Technology Spokesperson for one of the parties and spoke on multiple occasions, participating in the second reading of the bill, in Question Time, and in the debates on amendments, after which he was personally praised by the President of the Legislative Council for his contribution.
Reflecting on the experience, Puneet also highlighted the value of his studies in preparing him for this opportunity:
“The business law module I studied gave me the grounding for much of this. Reading the bill clause by clause, seeing where the drafting was weak and putting amendments together came directly from what we had covered in class.”

From the first question to the final discussion, participants showed curiosity, insight, and a willingness to engage in the art of persuasion. During the workshop, Rhetoric: An Ancient Art for the Modern Marketplace, we explored how, in the right hands, words do more than just inform: they transform, challenge and inspire. A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and made this inaugural session such a success. Gibtelecom MH Bland Group of Companies
