New school term begins on 1st September The new school term will begin on Tuesday 1st September. Year groups will return on different days and at different times.

OUR ROCK IN THE SHADOWS!

On Wednesday 12th August 2026 there will be a total solar eclipse, Europe's first total solar eclipse since 1999. During a total solar eclipse, the Moon moves between the Earth and Sun completely blocking the Sun. The eclipse will pass over the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland, Atlantic Ocean, Portugal, and northern Spain.

We should be able to view it in Gibraltar looking West-Northwest. Because the maximum eclipse happens just 36 minutes before sunset, find a high vantage point on the Rock or an unobstructed area facing West-Northwest (WNW) to see it.

Eclipse Eye Safety: Do not look directly at the Sun without certified, specialist eye protection except during the brief phase of full totality. Except during the brief total phase of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face, it is NOT safe to look directly at the Sun without specialized eye protection for solar viewing.

Viewing any part of the bright Sun through a camera lens, binoculars, or a telescope without a special-purpose solar filter secured over the front of the optics will instantly cause severe eye injury.

Today we held a very successful sports day and I would like to thank my staff at BFUP, with a special mention to Johann Valverde, for the impeccable organisation and running of it.
I would also like to thank a number of personnel who stood out today:

*David Rawlinson for being so kind in providing his professional sound system when called at the last minute for us to enjoy our gym and vaulting displays
*All the GSLA team at Lathbury especially Julian, Liam and Gareth for their generous support
*Frank Baglietto for being our loyal starter

Our pupils shone in their events and parents/carers enjoyed the few hours spectating. Thank you, because without this there is no show!

And so school ends for the summer with evidence of many filling our wall of fame. Wishing all our pupils, staff, and parents/carers a happy, relaxing summer break filled with special moments and lasting memories.
Thank you to everyone for everything you do to make BFUP such an amazing school. We look forward to seeing you in the new school year and we wish our year 6 leavers a wonderful start in their secondary school ❤️

Our last hot chocolate and frozen ice pop group got together today at break-time to celebrate the completion of their gold passport! Well done to all!

SUMMER BOOK CLUB

Running every Wednesday from 15th July to 26th August, the club will offer students the opportunity to discover new books and genres through a series of fun, creative, and interactive sessions. Each week, participants will explore different themes, take part in hands-on crafts and writing activities, and develop their creativity and confidence in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.
Throughout the programme, students will also collaborate on the creation of a special magazine, showcasing their writing, artwork, and achievements from across the summer.
