Summer Sports & Leisure programme Induction Training kicks off with Heartstarterz Emergency First Aid. First of two courses receiving excellent feedback on candidates taking park.

Many people think that a heart attack and cardiac arrest are the same thing, but they're two different medical emergencies requiring different treatments.

At Heartstarterz we enjoy explaining and teaching our courses so that everyone fully understands the differences of certain presentations. Knowledge and understanding builds confidence, whilst taught in a fun and practical manner.

We know the weather isn’t great in Gibraltar at the moment, but, it soon will be ☀️!!

We wanted to share post ready for when the heat comes so you can spread the word.

For anyone taking certain medications, such as

💊 ADHD medication
💊 Antipsychotics
💊 Antidepressants

This can lead to heat exhaustion more easily in the heat and Summer months.

Things you can do:

💦 Stay hydrated
☀️ Limit sun exposure/ stay in the shade
🥶 Try and stay cool (ice poles, hydrating mists, fans etc)

Other medications can also react with the sun and heat, causing rashes and other problems.

Always check your medication side effects sheet you get with your medications and check with your GP/Nurse practitioner.

Restart A Heart Day 💚

On Wednesday 16th October we invite you to wear a football T-Shirt to highlight the importance of learning CPR and being able to restart a persons heart.

We are very excited to have been invited back again this year by school to spend the day with Years 3-6 teaching them about CPR and what to do in an emergency.

We will then be supporting the and their service users families teaching them CPR too.
