The International Centre for Atlantic History based in Gibraltar, is a cultural-scientific institution that has set itself the goal of researching the history of the Atlantic. This history ranges from the ancient history of the Atlantic (Phoenician, Greek and Roman history) to the Germanic migrations, the African-Arab immigration and the Reconquista in the Middle Ages, the Iberian conquests (Spanish and Portuguese) of the Atlantic in West Africa and the Americas in the early modern period as well as the British and Dutch access to the Iberian Atlantic to the history of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries with its mass migration. It also covers the history of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries with its mass migration to the Americas, the two world wars, the Spanish Civil War, the Cold War as well as the field of post-colonialism which continues to the present day.
