Newton Institute of Health Sciences is a newly established educational institute at the SOS Village in Community six (6) Tema. The institute is committed to bringing social and economic empowerment through affordable education and the medium of modern technology. It hopes to contribute to the training of health care workers for the nation and the world. This way it can assist and complement the government’s efforts in training health care workers. Newton Institute is committed to providing affordable and comprehensive allied health training in Ghana, so that our qualified personnel would assist in offering quality health care services to the people of Ghana and help to improve the chronic shortage of health care professionals in the country. We have a team that will prepare health professionals to advance care for a diverse society through leadership in education, clinical practice, research and scholarship, professional service, and community engagement. Our vision is to be a leading institution for the training of health care professionals. We aspire to be:
a) a preeminent leader in health professions education, where scholar-
practitioners prepare trainees to be exemplary leaders in health care delivery
for a diverse Ghanaian society;
b) an innovator in advancing inter-professional models of health professions
education and health care delivery, and
c) a recognized contributor in creating and applying new knowledge to improve
health outcomes through robust and distinctive programs of research and
scholarship. OBJECTIVES
The objective of the institute is to produce versatile health care professionals who will be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills in performing various health care functions. Graduates from the institute will be health care professionals of high professional standing in the delivery of health care services and:
• Be able to practice in all spheres of health services or other related areas of
employment.
• Be capable of functioning as an informed professional in a changing health
care system and have the ability to evaluate and construct his or her own
approach to health care practice.
• Be inculcated with values necessary to serve patients and society as a caring,
ethical and knowledgeable professional and enlightened citizen, be it
independently or as an active member of the healthcare delivery system.
• Acquire skills in critical observation and inquiry through placements in different
units of specialties.
