Changing Stories, Creating Opportunities.

DARE is more than skills training, it is about changing stories and creating new possibilities. Through practical training in areas including baking, soap and detergent making, decoration, bead making, poultry, and graphic design, young women are gaining skills, confidence, and opportunities to build better livelihoods.

The DARE initiative is supported by UNESCO and the Mastercard Foundation.

Long distances, high transportation costs and limited access to diagnostic equipment can delay antenatal care and prevent -related risks from being identified early. For a mother waiting for answers, every delay can increase uncertainty, and sometimes the risk to both her health and her baby’s.
Through the Initiative, ICDPGhana is helping to close this gap by bringing portable screening and maternal health outreach closer to communities.

DARE Phase 2 in Action 🌱💪🏽

The Digital Access and Rural Empowerment (DARE) Project continues to equip young mothers with practical skills, build confidence and create pathways towards sustainable livelihoods.

On 13th August 2026, the ICDP Ghana Country Director and team visited the DARE Phase 2 training centres in Lower Manya Krobo to engage with mastercraft persons and young mothers, observe the practical training and gain insights into their progress and support needs.

GCLD Collaborative Learning Session 🤝🏽

On 12 August 2026, ICDP Ghana joined partners of the Ghana Community-Led Development (GCLD) Collaborative, supported by Global Fund for Children (GFC) and MC2H, for a validation and learning workshop at the Participatory Development Associates (PDA) Conference Hall.

The session focused on validating community findings, sharing experiences, and learning from other partners as we continue to unlearn, relearn and adapt in our communities.

ICDP Ghana also shared experiences and practical community engagement approaches from Otwetiri in the Akuapem North Municipality, contributing to the collective learning and exchange among partners.

Together, we learn, adapt and grow with communities. 🤝🏽🌱

DARE Phase 2: Practical Training in Action

The ongoing practical training under DARE Phase 2 is equipping young mothers in Lower Manya Krobo and Yilo Krobo with skills across different trade areas, creating opportunities for growth, confidence and empowerment.

This initiative is made possible through the partnership of UNESCO, Mastercard Foundation, Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE), and the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).

Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive not only academically, but emotionally.

Through the Think Equal Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Programme, implemented by ICDP Ghana, kindergarten learners are developing essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Through storytelling, meaningful conversations, and interactive learning experiences, children are learning to understand their emotions, build empathy, strengthen friendships, and make positive choices every day.

Teachers are already witnessing encouraging changes in learners’ confidence, participation, cooperation, and emotional expression, creating classrooms that are safer, more inclusive, and more supportive for every child.

Because when children learn to understand themselves, they are better prepared to understand others.

Together, we are laying the foundation for a future where every child can flourish.
