Today, 8th September 2026, Takoradi Library joined the global community in commemorating International Literacy Day under the theme of promoting literacy, learning, and access to knowledge for all.

We were delighted to host St. Peter’s Cambridge International School for an educational visit, welcoming young learners to the library for a memorable and engaging experience. The children explored our library space, discovered age-appropriate books, participated in storytelling, and learned about the importance of reading and becoming active library users.

We believe that a love for reading nurtured early can inspire a lifetime of learning. 📖✨

A big thank you to the management, teachers, and learners of St. Peter’s Cambridge International School for celebrating this special day with us.

Together, let’s promote reading, nurture young minds, and build a more literate society.

Today, Wednesday 8th July, the Takoradi Library had the pleasure of hosting a Personality Read session facilitated by Madam Stella of St. John Paul II School.

During the session, Madam Stella read an engaging story from Book Aid International on the importance of caring for books. The story encouraged children to handle books with care, keep them clean, avoid tearing pages, and develop a lifelong culture of respecting and preserving library materials.

The interactive reading session was both educational and enjoyable, inspiring young readers to become responsible users of books while fostering a love for reading.

Great having Pope John Paul School at the Takoradi Library during our library hours. Nothing beats seeing young readers explore, learn, and discover new stories.

In partnership with Databank Foundation Ghana, the Takoradi Library successfully hosted a Reading Clinic to mark World Book Day 2026.

We were delighted to welcome 250 pupils from six outstanding schools:

🏫 Takoradi SDA Basic School
🏫 Bishop Essuah Basic
🏫 Bishop Darko Basic
🏫 Higgins MA Basic School
🏫 Sarah Sackey Basic

A special thank you to the 20 dedicated volunteers from Holy Child Training College, whose energy and passion made this event truly special.

These young readers left inspired, and so did we.
