Is your salad safe? On this World Health Day, we examine the hidden dangers in our urban farms.

Across Accra, vegetables like lettuce and cabbage are often irrigated with wastewater. It helps crops grow, yes — but it also brings bacteria and viruses straight to your plate.

A study led by Dr. Prince Antwi-Agyei found shocking levels of contamination in the food we eat. But there’s hope! Simple steps like washing veggies with clean water or vinegar and choosing hygienic vendors can make a big difference.

Let’s make food safety a habit — for our health and our future.

Earth Observation for Renewable Energy in Ghana 🇬🇭

Did you know that satellites and geospatial data can help unlock Ghana’s clean energy future? A new study by researchers used powerful tools like SWAT, QGIS, and RETScreen to identify 24 small hydropower (SHP) sites in the Tano River Basin — with the potential to generate up to 46.4 GWh annually and save over 66,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year!

This research highlights how Earth Observation supports sustainable, data-driven decisions in clean energy planning.
