Seli's Memorial School Complex Celebrates Ghana’s 40th Farmers’ Day in Grand Style
In a vibrant celebration of Ghana’s 40th Farmers' Day, Seli's Memorial School Complex, a private basic school in Sunyani, Bono Region, organized an engaging educational event to honor the importance of agriculture and farming. Known for its commitment to educating students on the role of agriculture in society, the school divided students into groups representing Ghana's 10 old regions. Each group researched their assigned region, focusing on the key crops grown there. Students displayed their crops at school, demonstrating the cultivation and harvesting processes, fostering a deeper understanding of food production.
The day culminated with an exciting float through Sunyani town, where students showcased their regional crops with placards highlighting the agricultural strengths of each area. The event included a parade at the school, where displays were inspected by selected students acting as dignitaries, including the President, First Lady, Minister of Agriculture, and other notable roles. Following a thorough review, the best regional representation was awarded a prize, adding an element of friendly competition to the celebration. This annual event not only recognizes Farmers' Day but also instills in students an appreciation for agriculture and the vital role farmers play in Ghana’s food security.
