Ghana Education Service - Yiĺo Krobo Municipal

Yilo Krobo Municipal Director of Education Mr. John K. Gasu visited Korm M/A Basic School to see their school farm. The farm is on the Communities Challenge Project which is under the auspices of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, Somanya. Under the project, the school is growing cassava, some okra, maize, pepper and cocoyam in a purely organic way. The community has a forest. The stream that flows from this forest is is the only source of water for the people. It never dries up.

*PRESENTATION TO YILO STATE NASIC SCHOOL SPECIAL NEEDS UNIT*

The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (DSWCD) presented toiletries and mattresses to the Special Needs unit at Yilo State Basic School.

The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey added an unspecified amount of money to transport the children to Takoradi to participate in a Sports Festival organised by the Ghana Education Service for children with special needs. The team will leave Somanya for Takoradi on Sunday, 14th June, 2026.

The Municipal Director of the DSWCD Madam Naa-Afua Tettey and the head teacher of the school Mrs. Rebecca Sottie were hopeful that the presentation would open doors for more donations to the unit.

FURNITURE FOR SCHOOLS IN YILO KROBO
Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Francis Addo Akumatey on Tuesday, 9th June, 2026, handed over some pieces of school furniture to the Municipal Director of Education for distribution to schools in the Municipality.

The MCE handed over mono desks (for JHS & SHS), dual desks (for Primary schools) teacher's tables & chairs as well as hexagonal tables (for KG)

Hon. Akumatey gave assurance that more of the furniture would be supplied in subsequent years to serve the schools. The Municipal Director of Education Mr John K. Gasu expressed gratitude to the MCE for the presentation and pledged that distribution would be done immediately and his outfit would monitor to ensure good maintenance of the pieces of furniture received.

All Qualified BECE Candidates Will Be Placed; Freshers to Report on 18th September 2026.

BECE UPDATE:
Yilo Krobo Municipal Director of Education Mr. John K. Gasu visited the various centres to monitor the ongoing examination. At some centres where candidates were not yet writing, the Director spoke to them, advising them to avoid examination malpractice.

Wow! Somaya zone was fire 🔥. There were more than 1,000 students in attendance, and they enjoyed every bit of whatever happened. Students were bused from Nkurakan to Somanya. It will be the turn of Klo-Agogo zone on Friday, 1st May, 2026.
