Title: THE MIND UNDER COMMAND — PART 1

YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS. 🧏🏾

A thought💬 enters your mind “I can't.” Then you accept it.
Then another 💬“They don't like me.” then you believe it.
Another 💬“Something will go wrong.”
And suddenly, you're living according to thoughts you never stopped to examine.

STOP 🛑

A thought can enter your mind without becoming your truth. You don't have to obey every thought you think.

This, the Bible says “Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." — 2 Corinthians 10:5

And Romans 12:2 adds that “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

THE REAL DEAL 🔥
Your mind is a tool to be trained and not a master to be obeyed.

Catch the thought. Examine the thought.
Test it against truth.
Then decide what deserves your agreement.

DON'T OBEY EVERY THOUGHT.

TRAIN THE MIND.

"Christians don't think critically; they simply believe whatever the Bible says." - Part III

Quick correction 👇🏾

We are not saying that “Every Christian is automatically a critical thinker.” That will be too broad.

Some Christians may be intellectually careless. Some may believe traditions that Scripture doesn't teach. Some may accept statements simply because a respected preacher said them. Some may also misunderstand Scripture.

The Bible itself warns against this.☝🏾

That's precisely why Scripture commands believers to test, examine, discern and prove.

So our argument isn't that “Christians are smarter than everyone else.” No. Our argument is rather “Critical examination is not foreign to biblical Christianity. Scripture requires it.” 👍🏾

The message is clear that most Christians critically examine truth before believing in them and also Christians are advised not to believe something simply because someone said it. Could be from a pastor, a Christian, an atheist, a scientist, a philosopher or even BSC. 😊

Examine the claim.

And for us, this is especially important👇🏾

DON'T BELIEVE US BECAUSE WE SAID IT.

SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES.📖🔍💙

TEST THE TEACHING.

CONFIRM THE TRUTH.

Question for thought 👇🏾 🤔 💭

If Scripture itself tells you to test, prove, examine and discern why would believing Scripture require you to stop thinking?🤷🏾

The BSC Lens isn't asking you to believe us. We are asking you to open the Word. 📖🔍

"Christians don't think critically; they simply believe whatever the Bible says." - Part II

Faith is not “I don't know whether it's true, but I'll believe it anyway.”

Biblical faith is confidence in what is believed to be true. Hebrews 11:1 defines what faith is and Romans 10:17 connects faith with hearing the word of Christ. 🧏🏾

Christian faith therefore has an object. We don't simply have faith in faith. We have faith in Christ. 🕺🏾

So then one may ask 'Why Christ?' 🤷🏾

That ☝🏾 question is not an enemy of Christianity. It is central to understanding Christianity.

Hear this 🗣️EVEN ACCEPTING JESUS INVOLVES A CONCLUSION. A person doesn't merely say “Jesus sounds nice, so I'll follow Him.” 😊

The Christian claim is enormous. It says, Jesus is the Christ. He is Lord. He died for sins. He rose from the dead.

If someone accepts those claims, they have accepted a particular explanation of reality. 🤎

They have considered a message and responded to it. John 20:30–31 is particularly useful here. 👇🏾
John says the signs were written so that people may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.

In other words 'There were testimonies and signs. And there were written records. And a conclusion was being called for'.

Christian faith is not presented as “Don't think. Just believe.”

Rather, Hear. Examine. Consider. Believe.

And that matters. Because faith is not the absence of thought.

Faith responds to what one has come to regard as true. 🤎
