THE LEOPARD AND THE TORTOISE- From Anthills of the Savannah by Chinua Achebe

“The leopard had been looking for the tortoise and hadn’t found him for a long time. On this day, on a lonely road, he suddenly chanced upon Tortoise, and so he said, “Aha! At last, I’ve caught you. Now get ready to die.” Tortoise of course knew that the game was up and so he said, “Okay, but can I ask you a favor?” and Leopard said, “Well, why not?” Tortoise said, “Before you kill me, could you give me a few moments just to reflect on things?” Leopard thought about it — he wasn’t very bright — and he said, “Well, I don’t see anything wrong with that. You can have a little time.” And so Tortoise, instead of standing still and thinking, began to do something very strange: he began to scratch the soil all around him and throw sand around in all directions. Leopard was mystified by this. He said, “What are you doing? Why are you doing that?” Tortoise said: “I’m doing this because when I’m dead, I want anybody who passes by this place to stop and say, ‘Two people struggled here. A man met his match here.”

Never make it your will to rejoice over people's failure or downfall or either rejoice over their flaws. If by grace you find yourself above someone or people, don't treat them as if they are nothing. No one knows tomorrow, and No one is promised tomorrow. Today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present👌

Put a frog in a vessel of water and start heating the water.

As the temperature of the water rises, the frog is able to adjust its body temperature accordingly.

The frog keeps on adjusting with increase in temperature...

Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust anymore...

At that point the frog decides to jump out...

The frog tries to jump but is unable to do so, because it has lost all its strength in adjusting with the rising water temperature...

Very soon the frog dies.

What killed the frog?

Many of us would say the boiling water...

But the truth about what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when it had to jump out.

We all need to adjust with people and situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust and when we need to move on.

There are times when we need to face the situation and take the appropriate action...

If we allow people to exploit us physically, mentally, emotionally or financially, they will continue to do so...

We have to decide when to jump.

Let us jump while we still have the strength.

I attended a birthday party-A gathering of abt

people.I sat at the front seat. Then a lady
started
sharing food. She started from the back and
unfortunately, it didn't reach us at the front.
When her friends started sharing drinks, they
started
from the front but unfortunately I had already
changed
my seat to the back.
Again the drink didn't reach me.I was so furious
and I
stood up to take my leave but then I saw three
ladies
each with a big bowl.
This time, I tried to be wise by seating at the
middle.To
my uttermost surprise,One of the ladies started
sharing
from the front...and the second lady started
distributing
from the back. It was turkey meat.
When it got to the middle where I was seated it
got
finished again.Feeling so frustrated, I bent my
head, not
looking at any face...but then the third lady
tapped me
and stretched her bowl that I should pick..I
stretched
my hand...
Guess what was in the bowl??It was Toothpick
