Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary, Kumasi is a home to many species of plants and animals, especially reptiles and snakes. About 199 species of vascular plants has been identified near this Owabi Wildl

ife Sanctuary. These include 91 types of trees, 19 kinds of shrubs, 40 herbs, 14 grass, 1 parasite, 6 ferns and approximately 29 climber species. The region is invariably rich with indigenous birds and some migrants. There are about 161 kinds of birds to be found here. The sanctuary is also the only inland Ramsar Site in the country of Ghana. Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary, Kumasi is just perfect for arranging picnics and bird watching. Take a binocular and hop around the trees to get some really amazing bird views. There are even chances to notice monkeys in the forest. The area is very potential for boating and recreational fishing. The Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary is particularly famous for its educational tours and ecological studies. Enjoy a guided walk through the Sanctuary and possibly to Owhim to see the interesting bead industry. The Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary is not very large but you will take about a whole day to walk around the lake. The whole place is a protected region and an entrance fee is charged in order to enter the Owabi Wildlife Sanctuary. There are even excellent lodging facilities in this Sanctuary.
