Strengthening Molecular Diagnostics Capacity in Ghana
We successfully conducted a 2-day hands-on training on the RADIONE molecular diagnostic platform from March 12-13, 2026 at Genomic and Infectious Disease Laboratory-KNUST.
This training was organized by Centre for Health System Strengthening in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service, with support from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through funding from KOICA

Day 3 marked the successful conclusion of the Basic Biosafety Cabinet Maintenance Training at Kumasi South Hospital.
Participants conducted hands-on assessments of biosafety cabinets, presented their findings, and engaged in insightful discussions to reinforce best practices in laboratory safety. The training ended with certificate presentations, recognizing their dedication and commitment.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all participants, as well as our partners and supporters, for contributing to this impactful initiative.

The RADIONE 4ch Instrument Training Workshop officially commences tomorrow and this training aims to strengthen laboratory capacity by providing scientists with practical expertise in installation, operation, and detection of priority infectious diseases, including bacterial meningitis, respiratory viruses, and mpox.
Through this initiative, we will promote laboratory excellence and health security in Ghana.

Day 1 of the Basic Biosafety Cabinet Maintenance Training has successfully commenced at Kumasi South Hospital, Kumasi.
Eighteen (18) Biomedical Engineers from across the country are participating in sessions focused on biosafety principles, the proper use of biological safety cabinets, and safe laboratory practices. The training continues over the next two days with more technical and practical sessions.
