Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) has secured a US$45,864 grant to strengthen artificial intelligence education, research and innovation under the Africa AI Upskilling Programme.

The University is among selected higher education institutions in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa participating in the continental programme, which seeks to build a sustainable and scalable ecosystem for advanced AI education in Africa.

KNUST alumnus and Ghanaian environmental scientist, Theophilus Amanfo Berchie, has been selected for the Commonwealth Young Leaders Fellowship, joining a cohort of 10 young leaders drawn from Commonwealth member states.

Berchie is one of three Fellows selected from Africa and will represent Ghana on the three-month fellowship, which provides a platform for emerging leaders to develop initiatives aimed at addressing development challenges across the Commonwealth.

Nearly two decades after serving as President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST), David Boateng Asante looks back on a tenure marked by the completion of the first phase of the SRC Hostel, expansion of student financial support and improvements to campus transportation.

David won the SRC presidential election in October 2005 and assumed office in 2006.

One of the major projects completed during his administration was the first phase of the SRC Hostel, a project that had begun about four years before his administration took office.
