Day 5 - Wig Making Training

Day 5 of the Wig-Making Training ended in the mastery of creating frontal wigs and exploring fundamental styling techniques, marking the participants' application of their acquired knowledge.

The day commenced with an session on laying and constructing frontal wigs. Participants were guided through the detailed process of creating frontal wigs, mastering the art of seamlessly blending the wig's frontal lace with the client's hairline for a natural and flawless appearance.

Following this, participants explored basic styling techniques, including straightening and curling, alongside mastering various parting styles such as middle and side partings. This comprehensive training empowered participants with the versatility to create diverse looks, catering to different client preferences.

Utilizing the knowledge gained throughout the training, participants showcased their skills by constructing full wigs. With their newfound expertise, they applied various techniques learned during the training, ensuring the creation of high-quality, custom-made wigs.

Day 5's focus marked a significant milestone in the participants' journey as skilled wig makers.

Wig Making Training - Day 4

Day 4 of the Wig-Making Training at Women's Haven Skills Academy focused on understanding and using electric sewing machines, a crucial skill for making wigs.

Participants started by learning about the different parts of the electric sewing machine. They were guided through how to thread the machine, an essential step in preparing it for sewing. Each participant had hands-on practice with threading under the facilitator's guidance, gaining confidence in using the machine.

The day also included training on double wefting hair bundles using the sewing machine. This technique is important for preparing the hair before attaching it to the wig caps. Participants practiced double wefting, learning to do it accurately and efficiently.

Under the facilitator's guidance, participants practiced sewing the double-wefted hair bundles onto the wig caps using the sewing machine. This practical session allowed them to apply their new machine stitching skills in creating the foundation of a well-made wig.

To make the wigs more secure and adjustable, participants were taught how to cut and sew elastic bands onto the wig caps using both hand and machine sewing methods. This step helps keep the wigs secured.

Day 4 highlighted participants' increasing confidence in using electric sewing machines and applying machine stitching techniques to create high-quality wigs.

Day 2 of the Wig-Making Training focused on refining the participants' skills to create wigs that seamlessly blend with a client's natural appearance.

The session began by exploring the process of bleaching closure knots—an essential step in achieving a natural-looking hairline that matches the client's scalp color. Through hands-on practice, participants mastered this technique to create natural-looking hairline.

Participants engaged in the deconstruction of closure units attached to wig caps.

Layering tracks for closure wigs was another key aspect of the day. Participants learned the art of track layering, ensuring complete coverage while maintaining a seamless, natural appearance. Practical exercises refined their skills, enabling them to layer tracks precisely and skillfully.

The highlight of the day was mastering the construction of closures on wig caps. Through hands-on practice, participants acquired the delicate skill of placing and sewing closures onto wig caps—a critical step in the assembly of high-quality wigs.

The first day of our Wig-Making Training at Women's Haven Africa Skills Academy was an inspiring journey into the fundamental techniques and precision required for making flawless wigs. Participants were introduced to comprehensive skills that form the foundation of professional wig making.

The day started with an exploration of both hand stitching and machine stitching techniques. Each method was carefully explained, providing a deep understanding of their details and uses in wig-making. These techniques are the building blocks of wig construction, offering participants a versatile toolkit for their creative work.

Understanding how wigs are put together is crucial. Participants delved into the main principles behind constructing closure, frontal, and fringe wigs. This session laid the foundation for participants to confidently create various styles and designs.

Learning to accurately measure the head was a significant part of the day. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, carefully measuring important points such as back, nape, ear-to-ear, circumference, front-to-back, and forehead measurements. This detailed approach ensures that every wig is tailored to fit each unique client.

Additionally, learning proper wig maintenance is vital for keeping these wigs in great condition. Participants received essential tips and techniques to preserve the quality of their wigs, making them more durable and maintaining their beauty over time.
