Seeing Through the Fog. CHAPTER 1.
A. N. K. Atakora writes, it is in the nature of man to name everything he sees or hears. I am saying this first because at the end of this piece, I will be profiled. Some will call me a critic, whiner, others will say I am a communist, a socialist, hell some might even say I a traitor, the enemy. But only I know what I am. I am a Patriot. More importantly I am a believer in good leadership. Something that is rare these days. Like the saying goes, small thieves get hang while the great ones rule the kingdom. I know very well that I am not the only one seeing this. Corruption and recklessness has taken it toll in Africa with so called leaders as its chariot. Just as desperate times call for desperate measures, we are all being compelled to throw out our altruistic curtains. Well, they’ve done us a great favor, my fellow Africans. We are no longer bound by allegiances. We serve no one. We live by one rule and one rule only, never again will we allow ourselves to be put in such a position. One may ask if its just the African leaders. All of them. We hold them all accountable. Besides these so called leaders of Africa are nothing but someone else minions. Chess pieces for pervasive imperial players who have made the AU, a place once aimed to be the Congress of Greatness and its parliaments its chess board. Our stubbornness is just the only way to cope with this cesspool of senseless policies. It’s not retribution. No. Take a step back, look at the bigger picture. Ever since their what they called great patriotic war in the cold they have been finding it a pleasure to shackle us back into whence we were once put but this time the chains aren’t meant as bracelet, necklace and anklets. We claimed back our liberty by waking up. You see the eye beyond is what control our actions, you call it the mind, I call it our power. We’re like the whale in the sea. Unlike the law of fishes our power is a force of good and right. We didn’t intend to kill, infect or starve anybody. If you are really following, then by now you really get why our visions were being mutilated. We’ve all seen the likes of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Libiya’s M. Ghadafi, Thomas Sankara, Botswana’s Seretse Khama, Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, Nelson Mandela and the rest. After the visionaries were dealt with, we were given goggles from the imperialists’ making with only one object to see, Theirs. Those who can still see beyond their fog are rendered powerless and deemed useless to the people. That’s how you devour a whale, friends, one bite at a time. However they did it, they needed buffers. Errand boys, hence our the leaders today we have come to know and loathe. I want to write, I mean keeping writing but the sorrow of the thought of the population seeing it as a waste of time whining pauses me. I will not pause without saying Wake Up, Africa Must Unite!!!
