A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at NCB! π
Yesterday at NCB, something remarkable happened.
Not just because of the numbers, though; 120+ of you filled the room, 500+ joined us on Zoom, and over 50 tuned in via Facebook Live. That alone speaks volumes about your hunger for knowledge and your commitment to getting this postgraduate journey right.
But what truly made the day significant was the substance of what was shared and the fact that it was designed for all postgraduates, whether you are just starting out or already deep into your research.
Prof. Godfred Darko (Deputy Director, School of Graduate Studies) took us beneath the surface of two often misunderstood but critical pillars of graduate success: the delicate dynamics of the supervisorβstudent relationship and the often nerve-wracking preparation required for the oral exams. He didn't just give tips; he gave clarity, perspective, and a roadmap that every postgraduate student needs.
Steering the conversation with grace and precision was Mrs. Juliana Serwaa Andoh (School Secretary, School of Graduate Studies), whose facilitation ensured that no question went unheard and no concern was left unaddressed.
We are deeply encouraged that most of your questions found answers. But beyond answers, we hope you left with something more valuable: confidence. Confidence to approach your supervisors with clarity. Confidence to walk into that oral exam room knowing you have prepared not just to pass, but to excel.
This is not a one-off event. We are committed to walking this journey with you. More sessions are being planned sessions that dig deeper, challenge harder, and equip you better because your growth as postgraduates is our mission.
We hope you will keep showing up. See you at the next one.

KNUST School of Graduate Studies Hosts UWE Bristol Delegation to Strengthen Postgraduate Collaboration
Date: June 9, 2026
The School of Graduate Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, on Tuesday, 9th June 2026, hosted a delegation from the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), United Kingdom, to explore avenues for collaborative postgraduate programmes.
The delegation from UWE Bristol comprised Dr. Jacqueline Mullan, Dr. Sanda Umar Ismail, and Mr. Jimi Ogunnusi. They were led to the meeting by Dr. Daniel Boateng and Mrs. Ernestina Quarshie (School Secretary of the School of Public Health) KNUST.
The team was received by Professor Godfred Darko (Deputy Director of the School of Graduate Studies), together with Mrs. Juliana Serwaa Andoh (School Secretary of the School of Graduate Studies), who stood in for the Director of the School of Graduate Studies, Professor Michael Poku-Boansi.
The purpose of the engagement was to formally introduce the UWE Bristol delegation to the School of Graduate Studies and to discuss proposed collaborative master's-level programme initiatives. Discussions also focused on the role of the School of Graduate Studies in programme governance, quality assurance, admissions, supervision arrangements, and academic oversight. Institutional processes and requirements relevant to the proposed partnership were also clarified.
Following the meeting, a joint working session was held to outline programme implementation details, responsibilities, performance indicators, and timelines for the proposed collaboration.
The engagement ended on a high note with a tour of the ongoing ultra-modern new building for the School of Graduate Studies, which is set to be completed soon. The facility is expected to further position KNUST as a leader in postgraduate education and research infrastructure in Ghana and beyond.
The proposed partnership between KNUST and UWE Bristol is expected to enhance postgraduate training, research collaboration, and institutional capacity between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
