67th Independence Anniversary Celebration, Oti Region - Regional Parade, Dambai

The Oti Regional Parade for Ghana's 67th Independence Anniversary at Lapaz Park, Dambai, was a resounding success. Under the auspices of the Regional Director of Education, Nana Kugbeadzor-Bakateyi II, contingents from various security services, school children, and cadets gathered, paying homage to the occasion.

Nana Kugbeadzor-Bakateyi II, in his role, took the salutes and delivered the Presidential address on behalf of the Regional Minister. The speech highlighted significant government achievements, notably the Free SHS Education policy, contributing to the nation's progress.

The event featured thought-provoking poetry recitals stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence, particularly in light of the upcoming 2024 elections. The Prisons Band from Accra, led by DSP Edgar Lawrence N. Dowuona, provided a musical backdrop that added to the parade's grandeur.

Awards were bestowed upon outstanding 2022 BECE and WASSCE graduates, as well as the best-performing District at BECE and schools at WASSCE. The Center for National Culture captivated the audience with a stellar performance.

In a gesture of appreciation, certificates were presented to all participating schools, commemorating their presence at this memorable celebration of national pride and unity. The event underscored the importance of education, patriotism, and harmony in shaping Ghana's promising future.

Training of School-based PLC Coordinators in Oti: Introduction to SHS, SHTS and STEM Curriculum

The Regional Director of Education for Oti, Nana Kugbeadzor-Bakateyi II, has officially opened the 5-day Workshop on the pivotal roles of Professional Learning Community Coordinators (PLCCs) in the implementation of the SHS, SHTS, and STEM Curriculum.

This significant workshop is taking place at two distinct venues within the Oti Region, namely Bueman SHS and Yabram Community SHS.

The objectives of the workshop are:
To train PLC Coordinators to lead on PLC Sessions, discuss how teachers will use the handbook and discuss how to support effective delivery of PLC Sessions.

In her opening address, the Regional Director expressed her deep appreciation for the unwavering commitment and dedication of teachers, school Heads, PLC Coordinators, the T-TEL Team, and the MasterCard Foundation. Their collective efforts have contributed to the remarkable success of the initial roll-out of the PLC Handbook 1.

Nana Kugbeadzor-Bakateyi II shared the exciting news that the second handbook is exclusively dedicated to introducing the upcoming SHS, SHTS, and STEM Curriculum, scheduled for implementation in 2024. This curriculum aligns with the global push to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal for education, ensuring it meets the demands of the 21st century. In this endeavor, no child shall be left behind.

She urged all workshop participants at both Bueman SHS and Yabram Community SHS to be attentive and take on the role of ambassadors for this transformative curriculum.
