Drop a heart if you had St. Augustine’s Senior High

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has scheduled the 2025 nationwide school placement exercise for Wednesday, September 17, following the release of this year’s BECE results.

According to Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, candidates will report to their respective senior high schools between October 18 and 20.

A review window, running from September 1 to 8 on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System, will allow students to use the CSSPS portal (www.csses.gov.gh) to review and confirm their details to help reduce errors.

Prof. Davis warned parents and candidates against paying middlemen, stressing that placement is based strictly on merit.

This is to inform students, parents, teachers and the general public about how the aggregates for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are calculated by the 𝗖𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗦 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 for school placement considerations.

A candidate’s aggregate is determined by adding the grades obtained in the four core subjects— 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀—plus the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, as follows:

We further remind the public that the 𝗖𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗦 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. Candidates are encouraged to log in via the official link [https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login] to confirm their school choices.

If you have any concerns, or notice any discrepancies, kindly use the “𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲” 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on the portal to submit them. The 𝟮𝟰-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗦𝗦𝗣𝗦 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 is on standby to provide every support you need to make the process smooth.

The Dean of Students at the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Eugene Darteh, has called for the reintroduction of Moral and Civic Education to tackle rising indiscipline among students.

Speaking at the Feast of St. Augustine celebration in Accra on Friday, August 29, he revealed that disciplinary cases in senior high schools rose by 16% between 2020 and 2023.

He blamed the trend on weak home training, declining teacher discipline, and social media influence.

Prof. Darteh urged that Moral and Civic Education should go beyond exams to focus on mentorship, role models, and character building.

He also described current disciplinary systems as outdated, suggesting stronger counseling units, alumni support, and a National Discipline Charter.

He emphasized that punishment should correct behavior, not shame students, urging parents and schools to apply discipline fairly to rebuild morals and values in education.
