CHRISTMAS WISHES TO ALL ROAD USERS!!

Ensign Road Safety Consults
would like to extend the best wishes to all
road users across Ghana and the World. Irrespective of the
religion of all road users.
Remember this is a time of the year that families get
together and pause from their busy lives.
This is a time when we are appreciative of all our blessings, a time for sharing with families and friends. Much joy and happiness are shared – but we should not
forget the sadness in many homes where there are empty seats.
We would like to reflect on a year that has
been and also remember those who have passed away – especially those who have
passed away on our roads. A total of 2,249 people died in 2011 as a result of motor accidents with 14,181
others injured. It involved 21,817 vehicles comprising of 10,587 commercial vehicles, 8,790 private vehicles and 2,440 motor-bikes. In 2011,
a total of 19,530 vehicles were involved
in accidents with 13,372 people sustaining injuries.
We expect that as many
would have died in road crashes this year.
It is these lives that we would like to remember.
Christmas day is a day to celebrate new
Life – and we need to remember that all
lives are precious. No matter how insignificant you might appear to yourself –you might mean the world to someone else!
Our road safety efforts will continue to strive towards remembering all road users to have peace of mind on the road.
We would also like to pay tribute to all those medical and trauma personnel,
paramedics and traffic officers who are
spending the day on the roads and hospitals assisting road users and accident
victims. We appreciate your hard work and would like to recognize your commitment
to a better and safer Ghana and the World.
We will continue to promote the sharing of
knowledge and a greater commitment to road safety, better care and support for
victims, a reduction in the number of future victims, and improvement in road safety
globally, regionally, nationally and locally on our platform.
May all our readers enjoy a Blessed Christmas and Festive Season and may we
strive to love more and care more for those around us!!

CONGRATULATION TO VIVO ENERGY IN COMMUNITY INVESTMENT

Vivo Energy choose to focus our community investment efforts on road safety,
education and the environment, and are driving
number of high-impact community initiatives
aimed at improving the lives of the continent’s
people in these three areas.
Managing Director for Vivo Energy Ghana,
distributors and marketers of Shell branded
products, Fred Osoro on 5th February during the
launch of child pedestrians education said he
believe in the “CATCH THEM YOUNG” strategy,
expressed the hope that road safety education will
shape the attitudes
and behaviours of the minors and ensured they
become responsible drivers, passengers,
pedestrians and cyclists.
Let me take this opportunity to express my
appreciation to this company for such initiative.
May God bless their business.
By M.D. Ensign Road Safety Consults.

CHRISTMAS TEN QUICK ROAD SAFETY TIPS TO SHEAR WITH YOUR CHILDREN.
1. Always look both ways before crossing. Never
run into the street without looking and always pay
attention.
2. Avoid taking roads that don’t have sidewalks,
or crossing busy streets that don’t have cross
walks.
3. Walk in the opposite direction of traffic so
you’re facing the cars. This way you’re more
aware of the cars coming towards you.
4. Never play in a street, parking lot or driveway.
5. Walk when crossing an intersection- don’t run.
6. Take the safest route with the least amount of
street crossings.
7. Wear bright, reflective clothing during dawn,
dusk or any low-light situations.
8. Always follow traffic signals and signs- they
aren’t just for cars
9. Try to make eye contact with drivers when
crossing the road. Just because you can see them,
doesn’t always mean they can see you.
10. Always be aware of your surroundings.
