Yesterday, the Sunyani Branch executives of the Ghana Science Association (GSA) undertook an outreach in the Sunyani Municipality in preparation for the upcoming Capacity Building on Coding for STEM Education (CoSTEM) program. The program aims to equip science teachers with practical skills in coding, computational thinking, robotics, and problem-solving.
We paid a courtesy call on the Bono Regional Director of Education to seek support and collaboration. The Director welcomed the initiative and pledged GES backing for teacher mobilization.
The team also visited selected Senior High Schools in Sunyani Municipality and environs. We met with Headmasters/Headmistresses and HoDs for Science to brief them on CoSTEM and discuss challenges in STEM teaching. ESS Magazines were distributed to science students to promote science literacy and curiosity.
School authorities pledged support for CoSTEM, HoDs confirmed the need for coding/robotics training, and students responded positively to the ESS Magazines.
