Day 2 of the Global Fellows Programme 2026 was all about connection, context and collaboration🌍✨
From energising team challenges to strengthen teamwork, communication, creative thinking and problem-solving, fellows built the foundations needed to work effectively across disciplines.
The day extended beyond the classroom with insightful visits to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, grounding their learning in real-world context and Ghana’s rich history.
With stronger team dynamics in place, fellows have now begun shaping their accelerator projects, defining the challenges they aim to address and the impact they hope to achieve.
Special thanks to our Programme Directors: Angela Tabiri, PhD and Helal Ahmed, our Coaches: Dr. Bernard Oduoku Bainson, Dr. Victoire (Vicky) Ghafi KONDI-AKARA (BE. MSc. Ph.D), Jacob Doku Tetteh, PhD, Dr. Liz Elvidge, Stefanie Elder-Wollstein, our Organizers: Joel Bamfo-Appiah, Molly Mutesi , MBA , PMP®, Bethyn Yates, Angelina Avricevic, Laura Bulmer and the entire AIMS Ghana team for their support in the various activities.

Collaboration in action at the Imperial AIMS Global Fellows Programme 2026 🌍
Our interdisciplinary teams are at the heart of - bringing together brilliant minds to tackle real-world challenges through research, innovation and collaboration.
Through structured academic knowledge exchange sessions, fellows engaged directly with leading experts including Dr. Portia Adade Williams, Dr. Frederick Otu-Larbi, Dr. Mouhamadou Bamba Sylla, and Mr. Augustine Owusu-Ansah. From insightful presentations to interactive Q&As, participants explored diverse perspectives and deepened their understanding of key thematic areas.
Laying the groundwork for their accelerator projects, with guidance from coaches, they are defining and shaping solutions that respond to pressing global challenges.

Day 1 of the Imperial-AIMS Global Fellows Programme 2026 is officially here! 🌍✨
We are thrilled to welcome an exceptional cohort of fellows as they begin this exciting journey of collaboration, innovation and discovery. From the very first session, the energy in the room has been to inspire new connections, with ideas taking shape and diverse perspectives coming together.
Today sets the tone for the week ahead: engaging introductions, thought-provoking discussions on the importance of communication and dynamic group activities focused on teamwork and shared goals.
Fellows would also have the opportunity to present their research, exchange ideas and begin exploring challenges that will shape their Accelerator Projects.
As we kick off , we look forward to a week of learning and impactful innovation!🚀

At the just ended , we were honoured to have Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann, lead an interactive and highly engaging session using the Dext Technology kit to enhance mathematics teaching through hands-on modelling and scale reasoning.
The session guided teachers through the construction of a scaled model of the Sun and Earth using a truncated icosahedron, helping participants connect geometry, measurement and real-world scientific context.
Through this hands-on approach, teachers explored key mathematical ideas such as faces, edges, vertices, ratios, unit conversion, estimation and spatial reasoning. They also worked through analysing and correcting incomplete models, strengthening their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply in the classroom.
A strong emphasis was placed on making mathematics more tangible through low-cost, creative resources that encourage learner collaboration, mathematical discussion and deeper conceptual understanding.
