Islamic University College of Ghana-IUCG

Islamic University College of Ghana-IUCG The Islamic University College is the Premier Islamic University in Ghana and West Africa.

The Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) was established in 2000 by the Ahlul-Bait Foundation, a semi Non-Governmental Agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This foundation was running a number of cultural, religious and educational institutions in both Iran and several countires worldwide. The Ahlul-Bait Foundation has been in Ghana since early 1980s and has undertaken a number of projects

in health, agriculture and education in support of some poor and deprived communities in the country. The Ahlul-Bait Foundation decided to establish the Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) when the Ghana Government policy was changed in 1997 to allow for private participation in tertiary-education delivery, as a way of encouraging secular education (especially at the tertiary level) among Muslim and deprived/marginalise communities in Ghana. Land at the present site or campus (Adiringano/ East Legon in Accra), which had been acquired earlier in 1995, was re-allocated for the establishment of an Islamic University in Ghana to serve the West African sub-region. The IUCG is a secular institution and admits students from all religious affiliations from all over the world. It presently run the following programmes:

BA Religion
BBA Accounting
BBA Marketing
BBA Banking and Finance
BBA Human Resource Management
BBA Management Information Systems
BA (Comm) Journalism
BA (Comm) Public Relations
BA (Comm) Advertising
Diploma ECE
B.ED ECE

Plans are far ahead to add more programmes like computer science, nursing, engineering and petroleum studies.

OUR VALEDICTORIAN FOR THE 2026 GRADUATING CLASS- ZACHARIAH MUTAWAKILU

Islamic University College, Ghana, celebrates the achievement of Zachariah Mutawakilu, our Valedictorian for the 2026 graduating class.

In recognizing his outstanding journey, the University is also honoring the values of discipline, integrity, and consistent effort that he demonstrated throughout his academic career.

Zachariah’s educational journey began at Newtown International School, where he successfully completed his Basic Education Certificate Examination in 2014.

From the earliest stage, he showed strong commitment to learning and a mindset focused on progress. His foundation was not only academic; it reflected perseverance and the determination to improve steadily.

Following this, he proceeded to Accra High School in 2014. At this level, Zachariah further developed his ability to think deeply, prepare with purpose, and stay focused on achieving his goals.

His completion of the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2017, marked a significant milestone in his academic path and prepared him for the next phase of higher learning.

In 2021, Zachariah entered Islamic University College, Ghana, where he pursued BBA Accounting in Business Administration.

In 2026, he graduated as the overall best graduating student. During his university years, he refined his knowledge and strengthened his character.

Through the study of accounting and business, he gained a deeper understanding of how organizations operate and how financial decisions must be guided by responsibility and integrity.

Yesterday, representatives from the IUCG Public Affairs Department engaged final-year students of West Africa Senior High School during their Career and Academic Fair.

The team delivered a message on the need for students to consider Islamic University College as part of their next educational pathway. We guided the students through the application process and clarified the admissions requirements.

Several other universities also participated in the event, including the University of Ghana, the University of Education, Winneba, Wisconsin International University, UPSA, Valley View University, Asanska University College, Ghana Christian Service University, and many others.

Each institution was allocated time to inform the students about its programmes. In the course of our slot, we also used the opportunity to explain why Islamic University College should be their primary choice for further study.

In a further effort to strengthen our relationship with West Africa Senior High School and to also show appreciation,
we donated 10 IUCG notepads to the Headmaster.

Thank you, WASS.
