Yesterday, representatives from the IUCG Public Affairs Department engaged final-year students of West Africa Senior High School during their Career and Academic Fair.

The team delivered a message on the need for students to consider Islamic University College as part of their next educational pathway. We guided the students through the application process and clarified the admissions requirements.

Several other universities also participated in the event, including the University of Ghana, the University of Education, Winneba, Wisconsin International University, UPSA, Valley View University, Asanska University College, Ghana Christian Service University, and many others.

Each institution was allocated time to inform the students about its programmes. In the course of our slot, we also used the opportunity to explain why Islamic University College should be their primary choice for further study.

In a further effort to strengthen our relationship with West Africa Senior High School and to also show appreciation,
we donated 10 IUCG notepads to the Headmaster.

Thank you, WASS.

Yesterday, the Islamic University College, Ghana (IUCG) held a public lecture that provided an important bridge between tradition and formal legal processes in Ghana.

The lecture was delivered by Her Ladyship Justice Sedinam Awo Kwadam (Mrs.), who focused on a subject that affects many people socially and emotionally, yet is often misunderstood legally: “From Custom to Courtroom: The Legal Consequences of Breach of Promise to Marry in Ghana.”

The session highlighted how acts that may begin within customary arrangements can later develop into legal disputes with real consequences.

In attendance were Dr. Mohammed Ameen (Vice President, Research), LOM Sakiyama (Registrar, IUGC), and Mr. Ibrahim Sumaila Dankwabea (Director, Students’ Affairs).

Also present were lecturers from the Department of Religious Studies, the Department of Business Administration, and the Department of Communication Studies, as well as other administrative staff members.

The lecture was initiated by Lawyer Mumin Mashood, who was also accompanied by Lawyer Asumaila Mukaila. The university’s legal representative, Lawyer Mohammed Kabir, was also present.

Her Ladyship Justice Sedinam Awo Kwadam guided the students by explaining that what many people consider “just customary issues” can, in certain circumstances become matters for the courtroom.

Therefore, the lecture aimed to educate Students on the legal framework, the consequences of breach, and the practical steps parties may consider when a promise breaks down.

The university would like to express its sincere thanks to Her Ladyship Justice Sedinam Awo Kwadam (Mrs.), her entourage, the management, faculty members, students, and everyone who made time to attend the lecture despite their busy schedules.

Thank you.
