The Interesting Fact — The First Bible Printed on a Press Was the Gutenberg Bible, But the First Bible Translated into English Was Illegal
ChurchHistory | A Dangerous Book: The First English Bible
Here is a fascinating fact most believers don't know: the first complete English Bible was illegal.
In 1382, Oxford scholar John Wycliffe and his followers completed the first full translation of the Bible into English—a revolutionary act in an era when the Latin Vulgate was the only authorized Scripture, and the Church taught that laypeople were unfit to read God's Word for themselves.
Wycliffe believed the Bible should be available "even to the boy that driveth the plough." But the Catholic Church saw this as heresy. In 1401, England passed De Heretico Comburendo ("On the Burning of Heretics"), making Bible translation a capital crime. Wycliffe's bones were exhumed and burned in 1428 as posthumous punishment.
Yet the fire that consumed Wycliffe's body could not consume his work. His "Lollard" followers smuggled handwritten copies across England. By the time William Tyndale printed his English New Testament in 1526, the hunger for Scripture in the common tongue was unstoppable.
The ripple effect? Every English Bible today—from the KJV to the NIV—owes a debt to Wycliffe's forbidden manuscript. The Word of God, once locked in Latin, now speaks in over 3,500 languages worldwide.
What Wycliffe's enemies meant for destruction, God used for the liberation of His people.

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit: A Pentecostal Distinctive
PentecostalTheology | The Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Empowerment for Mission
The doctrine of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is one of the most distinctive teachings within Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity. Rooted in passages such as Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, and 1 Corinthians 12:13, it represents more than theology—it is a living spiritual experience that has transformed millions of believers worldwide.
Jesus promised His disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 1:8). This promise was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke in other tongues (Acts 2). Similar experiences are recorded in Acts 8, Acts 10, and Acts 19, showing a continuing pattern of Spirit empowerment in the early church.
Classical Pentecostal theology distinguishes between salvation and Spirit baptism. While believers receive the Holy Spirit at conversion, Spirit baptism is viewed as a separate experience of empowerment for witness and ministry, often evidenced by speaking in tongues. This belief remains foundational to many Pentecostal denominations, including the Assemblies of God.
The Charismatic and Third Wave movements broadened this understanding by emphasizing ongoing fillings of the Spirit, spiritual gifts, and the fruit of the Spirit. Many Charismatics affirm Spirit baptism while differing on whether tongues must accompany the experience.
Regardless of tradition, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit highlights a central Pentecostal conviction: Christianity is not merely a belief system, but a life empowered by the presence of God. It revives spiritual passion, strengthens ministry, and restores the supernatural dimension of Christian faith.
At KBITS, we teach this doctrine as a present-day invitation to encounter the living God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Azusa Street Revival (1906–1915)
🔥 | The Azusa Street Revival
On April 9, 1906, a small mission on Azusa Street in Los Angeles became the epicenter of a movement that would reshape global Christianity.
Led by William J. Seymour, an African American preacher, the Azusa Street Revival lasted nearly a decade and drew thousands from across racial, denominational, and national lines. It was here that the modern Pentecostal movement was born, marked by speaking in tongues, divine healing, and Spirit baptism.
What made Azusa Street revolutionary wasn't just the manifestations of the Spirit—it was the radical racial integration at a time of deep segregation in America. Black, white, Asian, and Latino worshippers knelt together at the same altar.
From this humble beginning, Pentecostalism has grown to over 600 million adherents worldwide today.
The fire that started on Azusa Street is still burning. Are you carrying the torch?
