Thank you for joining us around the fireside! 🔥

Our August edition of Gheeks by the Fireside brought together an important conversation about science communication, journalism and misinformation, and the changing media landscape in which information can travel faster than our ability to verify it.

A big thank you to our guest, Kwaku Krobea Asante, Programmes Manager at the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), for sharing his insights, and to everyone who joined the conversation, asked questions and contributed their perspectives.

Two thoughts from the evening that stayed with us:

💬 “Media seems to be growing but journalism is dying.”

💬 “We are moving fast with information generation, but verification is becoming something that’s still crawling.”

There is certainly more to unpack, so we’ll be back around the fireside next month.

In an era where we’re surrounded by more information than ever, knowing what to trust is becoming increasingly difficult. This is why we are excited to speak to a veteran journalist who has made his name known through investigative journalism.

Kwaku Krobea Asante is an experienced investigative and disinformation journalist. He currently serves as a Programme Manager at the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) , where he leads the Independent Journalism Project—overseeing both The Fourth Estate (investigative journalism) and Fact-Check Ghana (disinformation countering).
